SUPERBIA DUNGEON LOG
Third time's the charm for the Executors, it seems. Their confrontation with Miss President ended peacefully and with the Superbia loop ended, the school was finally able to enjoy its hard earned festival. But it's not quite a straightforward happy ending – the way back up to the previous layers is still sealed and regardless, if the Executors want to progress, they'll have to make their way through the Underside. Finding the entrance isn't too hard. After all, it's where all of this began. At the spot in the gymnasium the previous Student Council President was corrupted, a familiar stairway stretches down, down, down into the darkness. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally time for you to graduate Superbia.
THE UNDERSIDE
♪♫ Maze Fortress – Sakuzyo ... or so you expect, anyway. Entering the Superbia Underside is just as disorienting as always, but for totally opposite reasons to the other Undersides. While the other Undersides have been vaguely recognizable distortions of their Layers, this one is so similar to Superbia that for a second it's almost unclear whether or not you really are in the Underside or not. It almost feels like a repeat of heading down to Superbia for the first time as you descend the stairs but as you get closer, your intimate familiarity with the Layer allows you to pick out the subtle changes. It's more run down than the school itself and you can see Revenants flitting around to and fro in all directions. A few locations seem to have been switched around and warped but for the most part, Superbia stands as you've always known it, frozen in perfect stasis, just the way a certain someone would have wanted it. AREAS OF INTEREST ⚝ SUPERBIA LOCATIONS: As mentioned above, many of the locations from the Pride Layer are in place as you know them here, carved into place by the repeating loops. They're run down and overrun by Revenants but assume that any locations not mentioned below seem to be the same below as they are above. ⚝ STUDENT COUNCIL ROOM: Given how things started, it seems like the logical place to go. The Student Council Room isn't a big place, so it shouldn't take long to examine, right? Or so you might think. The instant the door opens, dazzling light pours out, blinding you for a second. It takes your eyes a moment to adjust but when you do, you'll see the reason for that is that the walls of the room have been replaced with thick, almost perfectly transparent glass with the summer sun pouring in aggressively from the outside. As you follow the curve of the glass up, you realize this isn't just a room – it's a giant glass birdcage. And... I don't have to tell you it's occupied by a bird, do I? ⚝ CLUB BUILDING: Once a monument to the delightful inanity of high school life, the club building has been completely taken over by Revenants. To call it an infestation would be an understatement – the instant you open the door, you find yourself utterly swarmed by them and in the confusion, you'll be chased away from the exit! All you can do is keep climbing and fighting your way up to the third floor, and from there the roof, which is made a litttle hard by the fact that the Revenants seem happy to weaponize the equipment of the club rooms against you. Watch out for that falling piano!! Make your way to the top roof and you'll find a particularly grouchy Revenant on top who doesn't seem eager to let you go! ⚝ GYMNASIUM: See for yourself. HAZARDS ⚝ Structural Damage: Similarly to the Avaritia layer, many of the buildings around the city have fallen into disrepair due to the presence of the Revenants here. While some of the bigger structures are fine, Revenants may burst through walls to get to you and letting them go on a rampage in an enclosed space could bring the whole building down on top of you! ⚝ Revenant Types Present: Charles, Metrodorus

The moment the Executors enter her birdcage, Agape lets out a terrible shriek. It's a noise familiar to many of the Executors and a familiar sight as well – after all, this isn't the first time you've seen Agape. And in many ways, it's unsurprising that you'd find her here.

After all, the Student Council Room is where the Student Council President belongs.

Though her size makes her seem lumbering and slow, Agape is a surprisingly fast opponent. She moves quickly around the birdcage both when attacking and dodging and her enormous bulk makes it difficult to avoid her. Thankfully, despite the pair of stunted wings on her back, she's too large to fly which means the Executors will still be able to grapple with her even if their movement is limited. Her enormous claws pack a powerful punch as you might imagine and she's dreadfully strong. Most frighteningly, when she's backed into a corner the entire bottom section of her 'mask' will peel away to reveal a mouth brimming with feroicious teeth that opens all the way down to her chest.

She's been in this place for so long and she's so... so hungry. Just... what was it about this school that she loved so much again? What was it she wanted to protect?

What is it with this place and speedy, bad-tempered avian Revenants?!

Once a proud member of the Occult Club, Minturno is having maybe a little too much fun now that they've become a horrible nightmarish bird monster. Having claimed the entire Club Building as their own, the idea that anyone else might come to these heady heights of three stories up is unforgivable, unforgivable, UNFORGIVABLE...!

Being a chuuni isn't something that gets cured by dying, huh.

Minturno is a speedy Revenant, though thankfully it's also quite fragile and doesn't hit particularly hard. Its main dangers come in the form of its pecking beak and razor sharp feathers. It will attempt to peck and swipe at any Executors that come near with the intent of driving them back off the roof and into the club building. Of course, given that the Revenants in there have been trying to drive you up here, that's going to be quite the struggle. Once it's good and cornered, however, Minturno loses their patience and just goes straight to trying to knock people right off the roof! That's a killer drop for even an Executor to take so don't let them send you flying!

Win Conditions

[ It's natural to be drawn to the gymnasium after all that's happened here. It's where this whole thing started and ended and with any luck, this place just might be what guides you further down into Purgatory.

But as you approach, something feels... off. You feel a prickling sense of dread that makes the hairs on the back of your necks prick up. This must be how a gazelle feels when it looks up and sees a lion charging straight at it.

The air around the gynmasium is terribly cold.

Enter anyway? ]

[chiron laughing alone with salad]

Keep your guard up, Etoile. This was a dreadful place even up top. If either of you can use that newfound Authority to assist, please do.

[Done up in his whites and such, Chiron must make an interesting figure without any of the trappings of the disease ravaging him on the inside. In spite of the awful feeling, the kind that had made him panic so before, he steels himself and enters, summoning his scythe to hand.]

[Phoenix stepped closer to Chiron, sword in hand not yet aflame.]

If either of us finds such an opportunity, I assure you we’ll take it.

I'll be careful, promise.

[she says, taking a deep breath and tightening her grip on the sword she has in hand. she's the picture of a stereotypical magical girl, her usual outfit changing to an orange dress with white and gold accents, a small tiara replacing her usual headband.]

Ready when you are.

What, are you the Pottery Club come to haunt me?!

[Wolfsbane swings her axe at the Revenant, trying to keep her footing and deflect it rather than be pushed back down the stairs.]

I haven't got time for this!

[ The door to the gymnasium cracks open with a terrible groan and icy air pours out of it, colder than anything you've known in Purgatory so far. It's chilly enough to raise goosebumps on your skin, even in Executor form. It's cold as...

Well, death.

As you enter, you get just enough time to take in the inside of the gymnasium. Just as above, it's been completely destroyed, by time and the ravages of passing Revenants. The shadows here are deep and black enough as to seem like solid glass cutting through the air and the lights are dim and tinted an unsettling red. You don't get much time to take it all in though because a commotion will immediately draw your attention.

It's a battle of some kind. A Revenant, much like the ones you've been battling on your way here. It's engaged in a fierce battle with–

Not something.

Someone. ]

[ The unfamiliar Executor – because surely, that must be what they are – wields a dark purple blade and dances through the Revenant's blows. She seems, at best, irritated by the diversion and finally strikes true with her sword. ]

You're in my way!

[ The Revenant, pierced by the blade, shatters into a cloud of pneuma that scatters across the stage. Satisfied that she won't be delayed any longer, the unfamiliar Executor turns to make her leave

and then she spots the trio in the doorway of the gymnasium and freezes. You could suppose that she might look shocked but with the black ribbons over her eyes, it's impossible to read her expression. ]

...

So, you really have made it this far.

Executors.

…I’m sorry, what?

[Literally what else can we say here.]

Excuse us, I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure.

[Sword watches as the...bird(?) Revenant screams and flies around the building before crashing back into a window to start fighting whoever's in there already. It looks like it's going to stay inside for the most part, which is really stupid for something as quick as this thing is.

Whatever. Sword hops down from where he was watching the Revenant and makes for the building. Time to go fight it.]

[She looks like an Executor, speaks like an Authority. Hm. It's...unusual, unless they've found someone like Rei. Regardless, scythe is stayin' put.]

Or displeasure. You seem to be in a hurry, my dear.

We appear to have been running late to the fight, don’t we?

[said with a tiny, apologetic smile.]

And yes, we’re Executors. I’m Etoile, and the gentlemen with me are Chiron and Phoenix. May we ask your name?

[Sword doesn't get far when someone calls out:]

Sword! Wait, please...

Why?

[As he keeps pressing on.]

Go back. You'll just hurt yourself again.

No! I... I wish to fight alongside you again.

[He still has that high manic energy around him, his eyes dark ringed. But his voice is steady]

[That makes Sword snort.]

What do you mean, again? We haven't fought together before--last time was just you going in and nearly dying more than it was an actual fight.

You are... not wrong. But regardless I wish to redeem myself from that... embarrassing show.

Who asked you to try and "redeem" yourself, boa--Lion.

[That damn stupid memory from the last fight. Lion isn't that boy. He thinks.

But he does stop to glare at Lion, so progress?]

Unless you can promise you won't do that again, why bother trying to anything to me?

I will prove myself. ...

I will follow your orders in this battle. And you can judge if it is serviceable.

And what if I don't want to give you orders? What if I just want you to act like a man and not a savage beast?

Then I will take that as my order. And if you tell me to stop, I will stop. Is that satisfactory?

Do what you want. I have a Revenant to fight.

[And so off he goes, but he does sort of slow down to let Lion catch up.]

If we were truly fortunate, we would never have met to begin with. [ Her voice is hard to get a bead on. She sounds... disappointed, is probably the closest word for it. ] She's created more of you, then.

[ With the Revenant taken care of, her sword vanishes as well and she begins to make her way towards them at a steady, unhurried pace. ]

What do you hope to accomplish by travelling this far into Purgatory? Surely you must know by now there is no way to leave.
