Training Log 3: Revelations

As we have more newcomers again, I will be holding another training session. It will be the same place as before- the part in Limbo. There will be refreshments as well, so even if you do not wish to spar please feel free to come and observe!

[It's that time again! Lion has his little (now a bit beat up since he keeps using the same space) claimed track of land in Limbo set up- wide spaces for people to pair off, a fold-out table with snacks and chairs for sitting and chatting. And of course himself off to the side with his lance in hand- willing to take all challengers and give tips and advice to anyone that comes to him!

He does though, go seeking someone specific out during all this: Chiron]

My friend, may I speak with you in private for a moment?

[There is no feeling of dread here that's just your imagination!]

((ooc: As usual this is a mixer post, so feel free to toss up starters as desired! I will have one for Lion as well if anyone wants to poke him in specific- but use this as a chance to show off- I mean try out new powers you've gained since last time!))

[Sword sizes it up, nodding.]

Fine.

[And with that, he comes at Lion swinging. Hopefully he wasn't expecting something like manners.]

[He was, but his battle instincts are good, so he can tell the moment Sword switches from conversation to combat. He has the advantage of greater reach though, and swings in a wide arc to deflect- it's clear he has the strength to use such an unwieldy weapon, especially since he's even able to control the swing enough to try and bring the blunt end of the polearm's shaft around after, intending to strike him with it if he can.

Such a massive weapon SHOULD work like an ax- too heavy to do such delicate maneuvers in exchange for power. But Lion is clearly just so physically strong that he can use it like a much lighter weapon]

[And that's impressive, even if Sword isn't going to say that right now. He dodges Lion's attempt to strike him with the shaft, going under to try and hit him in the side.]

[And there's the rub- Sword is smaller and faster. For his size and strength Lion is faster than he should be, but he has limits. So the strike hits true, and he grunts, feeling the crackle of the blade even if it doesn't have true electric powers yet.

But that puts Sword close enough to punish the strike and Lion wheels around with a powerful waist-high swing. Too low to dodge under, too high to jump over without Executor enhancement. Either Sword will have to retreat (and fast), putting him back in the more comfortable range for Lion's weapon... or block it. And Lion is confident he can win a pure test of strength like that.

At least that is his hope.]

[And Sword just.

Fucking backflips out of the way, landing on his feet with relative ease though he is still farther away from Lion than he would like. So he waits, watching for his chance to close the distance.]

[Lion makes a shocked noise and shifts his stance, tilting his weapon towards the ground, shaft up- half defense, half preparing for a strong upward slash. But first:]

You are quite impressive, Sword.

[swordofajerk]

The only thing I remember is training. I don't care about "impressive".

[He waits, watching.]

[A practical man, with no desire to be flashy. Lion appreciates it, and nods shortly, lifting his weapon slightly, still grasping the center of the shaft- and with no further words starts advancing with short, fast stabbing thrusts. Less powerful than the sweeps, but faster and more aggressive. Giving Sword less chance to retreat and himself more control to counter his attempts to get close.]

[Sword retreats and keeps circling, watching for an opening to get close and go in for another slice. He gets it by going around to Lion's blind side, which may be dirty but he doesn't care right now.]

[That was smart, in a way. Tactically at least. Honor means nothing when fighting for your life and you take any advantage you can to win.

... it was a very bad idea here and now though. Lion can't see him, can't block the swing with his weapon when Sword goes for the attack. But like a striking snake one hand drops from the polearm and snaps out... grabbing the sword with his bare hand. If he was in his Executor armor it would be dangerous, but for training, he was dressed bare from the waist up. If he was a normal human he would likely lose fingers, but Executors are a sturdier lot. But even so, there's blood- but other than that he doesn't react to the pain. His expression is twisted into an animalistic snarl, and with a bellow, he twists, intending to disarm Sword- or even destroy the weapon if he can. He's certainly strong enough to do so.]

[Sword lets the sword go, trying to get it back would be a losing battle, and he very quickly dodges out of the way.]

That was a bad idea, I see.

[crypddyd]

[He turns quickly, dropping the sword like he forgot he even took it, breath coming in brutal pants. But once he has Sword back in sights he stops, blinking dully at him. Like a beast- no awareness outside survival and killing. But between one blink and the next-]

What... ah, Goddess save me, did I- Sword, I'm so sorry, I must have reacted without thinking.

[He still doesn't seem fully aware of his hand, but he's completely given up on the spar, just looking horrified instead.]

[swordofajerk]

Yeah, I can see that. If I'd've known going on your blind side would turn you into a wild boar, I wouldn't have done it.

[That. Maybe an apology?]

Should I call Medic?

[crypddyd]

A boar...

[SOmething tickles in the back of his mind, but it slides away as fast as it came]

Ah... no, we can continue-

[swordofajerk]

No, we can't. Your hand is shredded. Go see Medic.

[crypddyd]

...

Very well.

[He sounds a bit shamed- of course, Sword was right]
