cancry | Training Log 3: Revelations

As we have more newcomers again, I will be holding another training session. It will be the same place as before- the part in Limbo. There will be refreshments as well, so even if you do not wish to spar please feel free to come and observe!

[It's that time again! Lion has his little (now a bit beat up since he keeps using the same space) claimed track of land in Limbo set up- wide spaces for people to pair off, a fold-out table with snacks and chairs for sitting and chatting. And of course himself off to the side with his lance in hand- willing to take all challengers and give tips and advice to anyone that comes to him!

He does though, go seeking someone specific out during all this: Chiron]

My friend, may I speak with you in private for a moment?

[There is no feeling of dread here that's just your imagination!]

((ooc: As usual this is a mixer post, so feel free to toss up starters as desired! I will have one for Lion as well if anyone wants to poke him in specific- but use this as a chance to show off- I mean try out new powers you've gained since last time!))

Rei watches for a little bit, looking thoughtful, before she finally approaches. ]

Um, Chiron...? Would you say you're good at fighting without your weapon?

Hm? [It's...not a bad question, and he rubs at his chin in thought about it.] Would...it be cheating if I suggested that's somehow a loaded question? In life, it seems I was, in some form or another. I suppose I could be again, here.

I wouldn't say that's cheating. If you can remember things you were good at in life and they help here, then it's good for all of us. But especially you.

[ And it's a nice change from remembering things that aren't! so nice! ]

But the reason I was asking... if it's not too much trouble, do you think you'd be able to teach me?

[He blinks down at her in surprise.]

Me? Why not Lion, or Phoenix? [After a moment:] I suppose it would be difficult for Phoenix to evaluate your form, but Ruin, then. Those boys seem to have some kind of formal training of some kind behind them, and strength to back it up.

I thought about asking Lion, but he's so much stronger than me... so I'm not really sure the way he fights would work for me. Ah, n–not that you're not strong as well! It's just...

[ Come on, Rei, don't apologize your way off track. ]

It's not that I don't trust Ruin for this sort of thing, but... th–this is just something I'd rather ask you. It's a little embarrassing that I don't already know this sort of thing, after all.

[ She knows Chiron better, after all. No offense to Ruin. ]

...My dear, you have magic, and--I mean no offense, but you are a bit...ah...

Well, certainly no one would expect you to get into a physical fight. [tiny noodle potato carb-monger who also appears very young WHY WOULD SHE KNOW HOW TO FIGHT AT ALL]

That certainly isn't a no, by any means! I am merely...pointing out.

Mm, I know. But that's exactly why I want to learn. Because...

[ Maybe she's being ridiculous. But she can't force herself to dismiss these worries just yet. ]

In my memories, I could fly. But no matter what I try, I can't do it here. So... does that mean I could lose my powers, somehow? Or what if I can't use my magic anymore someday? I wouldn't be able to protect anyone.

I just want to do everything I can to get stronger, so I can help everyone more.

I don't think that's necessarily true. I now recall...using magic of some sort. [He holds out a hand, stares at it, concentrating. And then drops it.] But I cannot for the life of me seem to conjure such a thing. It seems likely we may regain powers that we once had, though how and when and why are a mystery.

Still. So long as you don't think of strength the way Sword does, I think you'll do just fine.

I just want to be able to protect everyone, if it comes to it. That's all.

[ She nods, more to herself than Chiron, but when she turns her expression up towards him, she looks a great deal more sure of herself than Rei usually does. ]

So I'm going to do my best with everything and anything I can learn.

That's very noble of you. [He won't point out how it's not realistic. Just noble.] I'll try and teach you what I know. I seem to be quite capable with kicking more than, say, punching, but I'll do what I can! [listen he's tol he got them leggies]

[ A pause as Rei very visibly considers the difference in relative effectiveness between Chiron's leggies and her own.

Oh well. She's committed now!! ]

Okay...! Just tell me where to start and I'll try my best.

Now, be mindful that, to my memory, I've never taught fighting to anyone before. Some might suggest power is the biggest deciding factor, but that's hardly true. Physics plays quite a large role in a fight. Why, with the right skills, you could likely get me on my knees or flat on my face.

But we'll start small. ...No pun intended. This time.

Only so long as you promise me that if I can manage to get you flat on your face then we have to go show everyone else, too.

They'll be terribly proud of your progress. [AND ALSO LAUGH THEIR ASSES OFF AT HIM but obviously her progress would be way more important]

Let's start with throwing a proper punch without breaking your hand, and then we'll move on to some kicks, and then we'll--

[hold on this is an idea he's having]

Well, we'll still start with basics, but, perhaps as well we might find some videos with some basic martial arts...

Oh! Do people really upload those kinds of things?

[ For a fourteen year old girl, it's kind of wild how much she seems like a grandma trying to figure out Facebook right now. ]

That's so useful... I never would've thought to look up that kind of thing online.

Ah--actually, I was thinking from a video store, but yes, that's certainly the kind of thing that would be on the internet.

Maybe we could try both? If we're going to research this kind of thing, I bet there'd be books in the library, too.

[ You can just See whatever energy that made her go ham on researching idol stuff starting to rear its head again. ]

If I'm going to do this then I definitely want to make sure I do it right.
