Training Log 3: Revelations

As we have more newcomers again, I will be holding another training session. It will be the same place as before- the part in Limbo. There will be refreshments as well, so even if you do not wish to spar please feel free to come and observe!

[It's that time again! Lion has his little (now a bit beat up since he keeps using the same space) claimed track of land in Limbo set up- wide spaces for people to pair off, a fold-out table with snacks and chairs for sitting and chatting. And of course himself off to the side with his lance in hand- willing to take all challengers and give tips and advice to anyone that comes to him!

He does though, go seeking someone specific out during all this: Chiron]

My friend, may I speak with you in private for a moment?

[There is no feeling of dread here that's just your imagination!]

((ooc: As usual this is a mixer post, so feel free to toss up starters as desired! I will have one for Lion as well if anyone wants to poke him in specific- but use this as a chance to show off- I mean try out new powers you've gained since last time!))

Intimidation tactics, maybe? I know I wouldn't feel particularly brave if you came at me with it.

[ She's probably kidding. ]

Is it hard to use like that? The weight must be all off from a regular sword...

It's a bit different, but it's an easy adjustment.

[For him, at least. He's not sure about anyone else.]

You could be on to something with intimidation...

[ But then she furrows her brow. ]

But we'd have to take you to face some real Revenants for that... would you feel ready enough for it?

Why wouldn't I be?

Because this is all still new and you might not be used to fighting like this. I don't want to throw you into danger if we can avoid it.

I have a sword, and you don't think I can handle danger?

N–no, that's not what I meant...!

[ Open mouth, insert foot. ]

It's just, the last time we went to the Underside... a lot of people were hurt. Even some of our strongest people, like Lion. I don't want anybody else getting hurt so soon after we've started getting back on our feet.

[swordofajerk]

[. . .]

We're fighting. People are going to get hurt.

Yes. I know. But that's no excuse not to look out for ourselves and each other and stop it from happening if we can.

[ Her determined expression wavers a bit. ]

So... please just be careful?

[swordofajerk]

[Something lingers in Sword's mind, something about "too soft" and "bleeding heart" and "can't let her lose that", but it's gone before he really even registers it being there.

He shrugs.]

Obviously. Though you may want to keep that wild girl with the axe away from everyone else, if you want us safe.

Oh, but Wolfsbane isn't–

[ A metaphorical record scratch as she thinks over the words she was about to use and then hastily rewrites them. ]

W–Wolfsbane really does mean well, though!

[ ... ok maybe that was a stretch too, but still. ]

[Sword just gives her a Look.]

I didn't even say her name, and you knew exactly who I was talking about.

... Ah! [ BUSTED ] W–well, that's just because...

[ Quick. How can she make this sound less like she was dunking on Anna. ]

Th–that's just because she's the only one who has an axe like that!

[ SAVED IT ]

Uh-huh.

[He so clearly doubts this.]

Of course it is.

W–well, it doesn't matter! The important part is that she's trying her best and that's what matters.

[ ... She thinks, anyway. RIP, Wolfsbane, she wasn't even trying to drag you. ]

If trying her best involves wanton destruction, maybe she shouldn't be trying her best.

... okay, you have a point.

[ RIP to Lion's training dummies. ]

But she's really not this bad, usually! S–so try not to get a bad impression of her...

[ The more she talks, the more it sounds like damning with faint praise, so she falls into an unhappy silence. ]

[At least she realizes it, so Sword doesn't have to point it out.]

It's a bit late for that, but as long as she doesn't bother me I won't say too much.

[ Rei just sighs. ]

I guess it would be asking a little much to expect everyone to get along with everyone...

[ You think she would've learned after this long but Area Girl Expects So Little, Is Still Disappointed. ]

As long as we can all fight together, though, we should be fine.
