The Heist

They had been investigating for weeks, planning and setting up for what seemed like forever. But now was the time for everything to go into action. One team dressed up and settled into various undercover positions in the casino- including Lion himself over at the slots, in case he needed to call Greta and let her know someone was calling her out. Though hopefully, word of mouth would find her first.

Another at the bank, Mona using her Executor weapon to prove they could break-in at any time. It was all or nothing now- either way Greta was about to learn there were way more Executors than she previously assumed.

That is, if the Executors were right in their assumptions. But after last time who knows what might happen...

She truly had no idea what she was up against in the end. Did she get locked in the vault then?

No--I cut her hand off before she could fire. Then the walls began closing in on us, either by design of the alarm going off or when the actual Authority was transferred. Possibly both, for all I know.

...I didn't hear her running after us when we left, but I suppose 'I don't know what happened to her' is a foolish thing to say.

...

You cut her hand off. Before she could even fire. You cut it off.

And I wasn't even there to see it! [CHIRON]

Sword had the pair of us hang back while he approached the vault with Wolfsbane so that I could keep track of her. Truthfully, as soon as she joined up with us, I...

[Phoenix trailed off, not so much bothered by the recounting as he was trying to find the right words. But then again...then again, this was Chiron. The pair of them knew more about each other than either likely wanted to admit, and if he couldn't be direct with someone like that, what was left?]

...I knew there were very good odds that I was going to kill her. It was too much like meeting Esme again, and I couldn't allow anyone else to be hurt so long as I could prevent it.

The most shocking part of all of this is Sword and Wolfsbane participating in literally anything together and it not all going quite literally to hell in a burning, screaming, bloodied handbasket full of vicious feral kittens.

[He thinks it was a good call, like, come on. A gun to a swordfight, even a trio of overpowered swordfighters, is still a gun with someone desperate behind the trigger.]

[...That managed to get a very small and thin smile from him, at the absolute least.]

It went well, apart from that. We were even reasonably coordinated.

Thank the gods for small miracles. And for your ability to lop off gun hands.

I suppose I'm not someone to make the same mistake twice. Fortunately so, on that front.

Fool you once, shame on you; fool you twice...

Still, it's a blessing that you were there to mitigate any damage.

I’m well aware of that. Gods forbid she actually shot one of us over an empty vault.

...Thank you, Chiron. I was-...not quite doubting myself, but I don’t quite know what it is I feel over the whole affair. Speaking with you on it is a bit reassuring.

[He chuckles quietly.] Given what you know of me, or at least the me that came before, I find that surprising. Though...if you ever need such reassurance, I don't mind being a sounding board to tell you if you did something tremendously stupid.
