Night Patrol
Iris wakes up on the train.
Being dead and having total amnesia is a lot of nothing to process, so she stays on the train for a while. The prospect of getting off at the first stop and just exploring at random is daunting, so she stays on the train as it makes a full revolution around Limbo. When it's clear that the train isn't stopping anywhere else, she gathers her courage, and steps out into the station.
Rather than seeking out any specific services or businesses, Iris's first instinct is to just wander the streets. She doesn't know why that feels right, nor does she know what she's looking for, but quietly going down random streets and alleyways feels more comfortable than barging in somewhere to ask big existential questions to complete strangers. There's just too much she doesn't know - why is she here? Are these other people also dead? Is there something she's supposed to be doing?
None of the answers are revealing themselves from just walking around the city at random, but there's something just a little bit comforting about it. Moving feels better than staying still, and if she needs to be doing something else, hopefully it will make itself apparent soon. Until then, Iris wanders, sometimes stopping to look at the few people who immediately stand out from the crowds - Executors, she would eventually learn - but never approaching them directly. She'll work up to that.
Eventually.

Which nearly got us killed. Again. Somehow, I feel like dying twice would suck a lot more than dying once!

That's what the Executors - which I guess I'm one, not that I've done anything with it yet - are for. We stop Revenants from hurting Spectres, and try to stop Spectres from going Revenant in the first place.
Cool transformy powers, but man if it's not a worrisome responsibility.

I just kinda decided I was gonna dive in hard on it because that seemed right somehow. Like, these people need someone to protect them, right?

Rei would tell you not to feel forced to fight, honestly - she didn't want us to feel forced to take the job, either.
But, uh. Why do you feel the duty to fight?

[It's an instinct born of memories she doesn't have.]
I guess... if I can fight, but I don't, then someone else would have to do it in my place... so if they got hurt, it would be my fault...

But on the other hand, if you can fight and do, and get hurt, is it the fault of whoever didn't choose to? Or is it more a question of your teamwork or skill or something?

I don't want to blame my failures on someone else... I guess that's kind of hypocritical, but... the only thing I can control is what I do, so...

To me, that seems like the best thing to do is work to get good at it, yanno? Learn your abilities, and almost as importantly, learn those of the rest of us, so that we can coordinate attacks and such!
Rei was able to hold stuff off alone for a time, but better to work together!

But the more, the merrier, especially when blasting stuff, yanno?
