Superbia Intro Log

SUPERBIA

With the dragon of greed thoroughly slain, the Executors are at last free to escape the sensory hell of the Avaritia Underside and descend to the next Layer. There's still sound and chatter, of course, but compared to where you've been spending all your time until now.

Welcome to Superbia. And make yourself comfortable... because now that you've arrived, the stairs that guided you down here have disappeared and you won't be leaving any time soon.

Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the Pride Layer of Purgatory. As noted in the location page, several locations will require further investigation if you'd like to get some information on them, so get investigating! Drop a comment down to the Investigation Request subheader if you'd like to explore.

Get out there and have fun!

[Well, that certainly is one way to handle things. More than a bit risky, he might add, but he can respect that to a degree. Clearly she has enough knowledge about the way things work in this place that she was able to pinpoint a difference in him to begin with, so...why not see for herself if her theory is true?]

Yeah, as far as I know I'm...pretty recently "awakened" to this whole thing. I'm guessing it's been a lot longer for you, though.
mementomoritz: and life (bubbly about tea)

Three whole layers worth! Four, if you count this one. I've been keeping track of more exact times in my notes, but things were a little vague before I managed to get a working clock, so that's not an exact measure.

[The part where the day-night cycle is apparently optional didn't help, either.]

You've been taking notes on this whole thing, huh...

[He likes your style already, Medic.]

Think I could look over them, sometime? Might be easier than asking everyone for an explanation.
mementomoritz: leave her out of the yearbook (class photo day)

Please do! Peer review is a vital part of the scientific process.

[HER EXPERIMENTAL CONCLUSIONS, LET HER SHOW YOU THEM.]

[There's a slow, dawning excitement that spreads across Amber's face when she says that.]

So you're a scientist. I think we're going to get along juuust fine.
mementomoritz: maybe both! (new toys? new friends?)

[personal profile] mementomoritz 2021-08-10 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! [New science friend? New science friend.] I'm a specialist in biology and medicine, but I've also made significant progress in botanical and zoological research!

You talked about alchemy, so I'm guessing you're more focused on chemical engineering?

[She doesn't know your world's academia, she doesn't want to assume.]

Precisely! Alchemy as a study is still in the process of getting traction in Corona but trust me, it’s getting there. You would not believe the advances we- well, I- have been working on!

[…]

I just uhh…can’t remember quite all of them….yet.
mementomoritz: finals week (sleepy science)

[personal profile] mementomoritz 2021-08-14 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Medic nods with vigorous sympathy.]

I know what that feels like! With the gaps in my memories, half of what I'm working with could be years out of date and I'd have no idea, it's terrible!

Not to mention all the new discoveries that the living must be making while we're gone... I hope someone shows up with a scientific journal when they die. Maybe if they get buried with it or something.

You know that...actually. Mm.

[...]

Sorry if this is blunt, but- do...you remember how you died?
mementomoritz: MERCY YES (Default)

[personal profile] mementomoritz 2021-08-18 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
No, and I'm extremely interested in figuring out how it could have happened.

[Not even just in terms of wanting to remember, she's also surprised it was even physically possible, given the healing powers she remembers having.]

Oh! ...Oh.

...w...wait, really?
mementomoritz: maybe both! (new toys? new friends?)

[personal profile] mementomoritz 2021-08-21 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! Anything that could get past my regenerative capacity is intriguing enough to warrant further study.

So far my two major theories are the use of overwhelming immediate force, something that could just immediately annihilate me without having the chance to heal myself- or some kind of nullification ability that kept me from being able to heal at all.

The possibilities are fascinating! [...Well, you can't say she doesn't know how to find a silver lining.]

Regenerative capacity? So that's just...that's something you just had before.

[Is everyone here all special and magical except him-]
