sixth loop

SUPERBIA

On midnight of the seventh day, it happens again.

Time rewinds itself back to the Executors' starting point, putting them right back at the beginning of the loop. This is now their sixth time experiencing the events of the Superbia loop. Some of the school's long hidden secrets are starting to come to light... but is it enough to bring them close to breaking the loop once and for all? Only time will tell.

Use this log to investigate during this seven day period and drop a comment down to the Investigation Request subheader if you'd like to explore. If you're continuing or building off of a previous loop's investigation results, please link to it in your comment.

If you need a refresher on the loop mechanics, check out this post.

    Good luck, Executors.

[She was legitimately worried for a moment that the papier-mache statue would come to life and attack them for some reason. But why would that happen? That's impossible...]

Oh...yeah, I can see how that'd be annoying. If he came in late he should be listening to the people who are more experienced! [She adjusts her glasses dramatically as she says that.]
emberserker: Creepy reassurance. (trust me (do not))

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-02 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. But all he ever did from the start is complain about how everyone else fights as if he were the only one who knew any better.

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-02 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, I bet that's annoying! Must make it harder to coordinate too if he keeps trying to do his own thing.
emberserker: Seething, eyes hidden. (very not okay)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-02 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Naturally. Of course, he's decided to ignore me, so I have to vent my frustration. What brings you up here?

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-03 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I thought it would be good to take another look around this place now that I'm actually aware of what's going on here. See if there's anything else I've missed.

[She pauses, adjusting her hair.] Though most of it seems to have been pretty thoroughly investigated already.
emberserker: Stern look. (this is why you're wrong)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-03 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Attribute that to how long we've been stuck in this place. We can only hope to clear through the next one faster.

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-04 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah...hopefully that one won't keep resetting us. I mean, school's nice, but you can't learn anything when the teacher just keeps repeating the same week's curriculum over and over again.
emberserker: Anna neso? (blah blah doll metaphors)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-05 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
I assure you, that isn't how it normally goes. We weren't stuck in the last layers, either.
calculated_risk: (calculations)

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-07 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I definitely hope this is just an odd example, then. What were those last layers like, anyways?
emberserker: Stuck-up pout. (hmph)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-08 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Limbo is a nonsensical mess. Memories play out at the cinema, convenience stores sell moose-flavoured potato chips beside the concept of yellow, buildings loop around without any regard for physics. And the layers underneath each have a theme. Invidia -- Envy, a city obsessed with glamour, where the Authority goes to the most famous celebrity. Avaritia -- Greed, a lavish gambling district surrounded by a ramshackle slum, where the Authority's held by the richest in town. And now here.
calculated_risk: (smug)

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-14 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, she picks up on that theme.] Envy and Greed, huh? I bet there's seven of these "underneath" layers we need to get through, then?
emberserker: Serious dismissal. (x number of bad ideas later)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-14 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as we're aware. I don't know the order, though. The other two were far more obvious with their themes than this one.

Yeah, time loops aren't really associated with any specific sin...though I'd guess Sloth first, since it could mean "not moving forward"?
emberserker: Holding her magic crystal. (...)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-16 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
That would make sense, but apparently we're in Pride. Which just makes me wonder what Sloth will be when we find it.
calculated_risk: (strategy)

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-10-16 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Pride...I guess that does kind of fit, with all this buildup to a festival. Maybe Sloth will just be a bunch of plain-looking block buildings or something else lazy like that.
emberserker: Head tilted up with a creepy smile. (ENDORPHIN)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-10-16 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Or simply something so nice that nobody wants to leave. It's all relative, of course.
calculated_risk: (nervous)

[personal profile] calculated_risk 2021-11-04 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[A light nod.] It's probably too early to be worrying about that, anyways.
emberserker: Serious dismissal. (x number of bad ideas later)

[personal profile] emberserker 2021-11-05 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, it's good to be prepared. But we ought to focus most on getting through this, or the rest won't matter.
