[ The 7th day comes to pass and despite knowing that things are different now, Achilles still braces for the worst - only when time doesn't reset does he finally feel like he can breathe again. Like the final confirmation that the loops are indeed over.

Though it's what he sees in the coming days as they prepare for the Underside that really excites him, to the point that he messages the group chat about it. ]

Well, well. So is this the highly anticipated "school festival" I've heard all the students speak so highly of?

[ Indeed as Achilles says, the school festival has finally come. It is the most extravagant, anime-ass Japanese school festival you can imagine, with various student run stands outside full of food and even more things going on inside... and the entirety of the student council running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to keep everything running smoothly.

This, even more so than the passing of Authority and the lack of time resets, puts him at ease. ]

I know we still have much preparation to do but I think after all of this a little bit of fun and relaxation might be good for us.

Of course if all the hustle and bustle gets to be too much for anyone you're more than welcome to make use of my office or faculty dorm, should you have difficulty finding an empty room.

[ Not that he'll be in either much, he's also in a mood to check out the food festival. But hey you don't need him to be present to chill in there.

I am trying to get a job done here. And I was looking at the other attractions before, I'll have you know.

A job! My, yes, I can see you're taking the appointed job very seriously. [Too seriously, in fact.] Take a lunch break.

I'll finish my shift and then go. Honestly, why does it matter if I have fun or not? We're here to fix the afterlife, and when we do there'll be nothing left of us as we are.

[It's impossible to see what his eyes do behind his shades, but whatever it is applies to the rest of his expression as well. There's a tilt to his mouth that might be amusement or might be pity or might be so much in between, but then it wavers, slides into a thoughtful or even a worrying frown. He looks about to say something, thinks again, shakes his head. Tries again.]

Then why does it matter if you do this job or not?

Because I'd rather not become a Revenant. Is that not enough for you?

No--no, Wolfsbane, I didn't mean the job, the overall job. I mean this. [With a motion to the fortune telling.] Doing this or not doing this has no bearing on what you become.

But if you do it for fun...we aren't fighting right now. You're allowed fun when there's time.

...[She sighs, looking down at the crystal ball.] I've spent months on end investigating and training. Perhaps I ought to do something else. That's all.

Maybe it's nice. To just be a student. You and some of the others--we've no way of knowing how old any of us were, but some of you seem like you were quite young. [In general, and in comparison to someone like him.]

This is a celebration. Of...what specifically, I've yet to deduce. The school itself, presumably? [a hand wave all that aside, unimportant] So celebrate we should. And if that means taking time out from training to play at being a future-reading mystic, then by all means, who am I to tell you otherwise? It was quite mysterious and poetic, what you told me. Perhaps you've a little natural storytelling talent in you, hm?

It seems pointless to me. I know I was born to be the greatest mage who ever lived. Trying to see people's fortunes is just a distraction, the same with the rest of this. ...But then, you're in much better spirits than you've been, so I suppose that explains your outlook.

Being so singularly focused at all times must be exhausting. [It's no admonishment. He says it with some genuine sympathy.] There's no one to fight here. There's time before we move on to the real fight.

Yes, and when we do, I'm not going to mess it all up. If someone else does, that's their problem.

No. No, I don't believe you will. I know you'll give it your all and then some. Just be mindful, if you would, that others will want to help, and teamwork...well, I'm told that it makes the dream work.
