PROCEEDING...

With the real super power of teamwork, the Executors have successfully managed to make their way through the Gula Underside and defeat the previous Authority there. With Gerda now freed from her past regrets and given the power of an Executor, Gula and its inhabitants seem to be in safe hands... for now at least. More interesting – or concerning, perhaps – is the tentative ally you've gained in the form of Birdie, the mysterious girl who attacked some of your number in the Superbia Underside. While she seemed to be nothing but an enemy back then, a surprising connection has been formed with who you now understand to be the Authority of Purgatory itself. While she doesn't necessarily believe the Executors will be able to repair Purgatory, she is at least willing to admit that she shares their goals of wanting to see Purgatory restored... either to its former state, or to something new. But what does that mean for the Executors? And what does that mean for Rei supposedly born from the Authority's discarded heart? There are still many questions the Executors need to answer and as a blast of dry, hot air blows up from the next layer, you can only hope that Luxuria holds the key to at least some of them...

♪♫ Wet & Dry – Sakuzyo After the humidity and noise of the Gula Underside, passing down to the Lust Layer of Purgatory initially seems like a relief. The air here is dry and sharp and though you hear noise drifting up to meet you and see a whole rainbow of lights clustered together in the dark, it doesn't seem as though it'll be quite as overwhelming as some of the bustling Layers you've had the pleasure of exploring before. But as you set foot down into Luxuria and feel the heat of the ground under your feet, you begin to wonder if you might just have hopped out of the frying pan and into the fire...

Depends on how deep she's digging! There's nothing overly unusual or worrisome (apart from the fact that they seem to have an iron lung stored in with some of their equipment???) but if Medic's willing to dig a little deeper, surely she'll find something...

[But she's absolutely digging deeper, because this is not a girl who ever learned to leave well enough alone.]

Is there anything in particular she would be looking for, or is she just generally Doing A Snooping?

[But she'll likely be keeping a particular eye out for anything that just... doesn't seem like it belongs in a normal first aid center. She might be eccentric at the best of times, but she's got enough professional experience to know what should and shouldn't be in here.]

Well, if she's being thorough about it, would she check the patient log of who's been treated in the first aid center over the past... however long the layer's been like this?

The patient log is pretty much what you'd expect for the most part. A lot of it is stuff like people suffering from being overwarm, overtired or drunk, or folks feeling worse for wear after taking on one of the larger rides. There's the usual amount of injuries and scuffles you might expect in a place this large – nothing too concerning, just twisted ankles or someone cutting their finger – but then things start to get a bit weird.

A handful of names pop up over and over with injuries gotten from dumb stunts around the carnival. Climbing things they're not supposed to be climbing, sneaking into places they're not supposed to be, that kind of thing. The name Lana pops up more than anyone's, culminating in an incident where she tried to climb up Pollux's rails while the ride was under maintenance and fell from the very top. It's a fall that surely should have killed her – but going by the notes, the first aid responders couldn't find so much as an eyelash out of place once they got to her.

After that, Lana's name doesn't show up again.

Interesting... just to be thorough, do any other names show up very often, even if it's not as frequent as Lana's?

And if she compares the incidents listed beside the names, do any of them seem like they were getting injured at the same time as Lana, like they were doing the dumb stunts with her?

There's a few reoccurring names, but it sort of comes and goes. The pattern is typically that she'll pal around with a group for a while until getting into something a little too extreme for their tastes, scaring them off and then starting up all over again with a new group.

One last question: how long ago was Lana's fall off the top of the Pollux coaster?

Dates in Purgatory being what they are makes this a bit hard to work out, but Medic probably has enough experience with its temporal weirdness to estimate that it was probably something like three months ago.
