PROCEEDING...

With the real super power of teamwork, the Executors have successfully managed to make their way through the Gula Underside and defeat the previous Authority there. With Gerda now freed from her past regrets and given the power of an Executor, Gula and its inhabitants seem to be in safe hands... for now at least. More interesting – or concerning, perhaps – is the tentative ally you've gained in the form of Birdie, the mysterious girl who attacked some of your number in the Superbia Underside. While she seemed to be nothing but an enemy back then, a surprising connection has been formed with who you now understand to be the Authority of Purgatory itself. While she doesn't necessarily believe the Executors will be able to repair Purgatory, she is at least willing to admit that she shares their goals of wanting to see Purgatory restored... either to its former state, or to something new. But what does that mean for the Executors? And what does that mean for Rei supposedly born from the Authority's discarded heart? There are still many questions the Executors need to answer and as a blast of dry, hot air blows up from the next layer, you can only hope that Luxuria holds the key to at least some of them...

LUXURIA

♪♫ Wet & Dry – Sakuzyo After the humidity and noise of the Gula Underside, passing down to the Lust Layer of Purgatory initially seems like a relief. The air here is dry and sharp and though you hear noise drifting up to meet you and see a whole rainbow of lights clustered together in the dark, it doesn't seem as though it'll be quite as overwhelming as some of the bustling Layers you've had the pleasure of exploring before. But as you set foot down into Luxuria and feel the heat of the ground under your feet, you begin to wonder if you might just have hopped out of the frying pan and into the fire...

[Chiron does not know how he died, though at this point he can guess. But there are so many ways to die. Somnus had made a very almighty attempt to end the unending and had killed all memory of him. Not a soul to remember, not even...

He doesn't mean to laugh, a not entirely there sound, and runs a hand through his messy hair.]

Family is truly the worst, it seems.

[ He ends up letting out a laugh too, a single short, bitter sound that ends up turning into another coughing fit of left over pneuma. Sorry Phoenix... ]

...I'm sorry. [There wasn't much else he could offer--Chiron would understand that far better than Phoenix could, and likely do better at offering comfort as a result. If all he could do was hold Achilles and keep him grounded, that was fine. He wasn't about to go anywhere anytime soon.]

[Haha comfort, right, well, apparently sardonic laughter at murderous siblings counts a little bit as comfort, right?]

We are hardly telling you to forget it happened. Impossible, of course. But we do want you to understand that there's nothing to be done at this point. Whatever happened...after, it's far beyond out of your control. But you're more than allowed to feel what you need to feel about that bitch and what she's done.

It’s a hard pill to swallow and there’s a part of him that wonders now if while doing all this he has wasted time. If there was a way back to life, if Chimera was able to do so… then what if he had been focusing on that since the beginning? Maybe he could have found a way back and helped Odile. He casts his eyes down, and moves to bury his face in Phoenix’s shoulder, careful of his horns even when he’s this distraught. ]

[ Sorry for causing a scene. Sorry for leaving Odile and whatever he accidentally did to him. Sorry for ever even going to that world in the first place.

He feels his eyes moistening again. ]

Believing I could ever get away from her… what a fool I was.

[ He slightly lifts his head back up ]

[ “all right?” but he finds the words difficult to get out right now ]

[ Well, she's still present if nothing else, but alright might be a stretch. She'd flattened herself against the back wall the moment Chiron and Phoenix had entered but now that Achilles has said her name, she takes a tentative step forward. She's gripping one hand in the other so tight her knuckles have gone white and there's a look on her face that makes her look like a deer in headlights. It could not be more transparent that she's freaking out a bit. ]

Is... are you...?

[ She hangs back, not quite certain of whether or not to approach. ]

Th–there was so much pneuma and I didn't know what to do...

[...It is awkward, to be in the room with her and not directly address her. Chiron glances at her, quick, and back to Orthrus again. She's panicking. They should do something. If she's been acting all along, it's a damn good act that even he would be hard pressed to pull off.]
