With the Executors now victorious over the first layer of Purgatory, the only way for them to go is further down. Thanks to the combined efforts of Kingslayer, Ariel and Mona, a path forward has been opened that leads down to the next layer of Purgatory. Rei looks ill at ease about this. If asked, she'll brush off the concern a bit, explaining that she's never gone this far down into Purgatory before and she doesn't know what lays ahead. It might be even more dangerous than the Underside. She's just glad they're all heading down together. So, once everyone's collected themselves... head down they to to the next layer of Purgatory... Welcome to Invidia. Congratulations on unlocking your first major location change in Can Cry! Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the city of Invidia. A strange sort. But kindly, in a fashion, if he so allowed veritable strangers to live with him.

A group of strangers in a mansion. I could see that with this group. And should further layers be connected by train, it would be no trouble to come back even on our journeys. Though, perhaps the home up topside is sufficient enough.

If we had a bigger house... then more of us could live together.

[ she seems fairly enamoured with that thought, in her quiet way. ]

But I like our house, too.

Hardly much harm in looking, at any rate, hm? What makes the one we have so special?

... Do you think anyone would answer if we knocked? Oh, but there's no bell to ring at the gates...

[She will get! A hair ruffle! For that answer!] Somehow I thought that's what you would say. That does make it special. But then, anywhere we might live would be special. It's us that make it that way, is it not?

... Yes. You're right.

[ until now, Mona's occasional smiles have only ever been faint, even though she means them no less sincerely. but whatever changed in her makes this one bright and clear. ]

What kind of place did you used to live in, Your Majesty?

Ah...

[Though her smile keeps one on his face, it turns sad. Wistful, perhaps. Or just...uncertain. Until he looks back at the mansion and leans on the gate. Then the smile drops completely.]

It may be easier to say that I don't know.

[It's true, he doesn't know what kind of place he lived in before. But he knows, now, where he spent a good deal of time 'after'.]

...Mona, my dear. You and the others, Rei in particular, were attempting to come up with a name for me. Was there any consensus?

[ she would have asked why he seemed sad, apologised for perhaps saying the wrong thing, but— ]

—Oh! Your name...! Well, we were trying to think of famous kings... [ last time, he didn't seem very bothered about whether he had a new name or not. the suddenness of the question suggests otherwise. did he change his mind? in that case: ] Um, but I went to the library too! Since I didn't have many ideas, I just read about a lot of different things, and... I couldn't find many doctors, but some stories have healers. I thought, maybe Chiron...? He's supposed to be very wise and kind, and he trained people to fight, but the book said he was most skilled in medicine...

[ it's not like she spoke an absurd amount there, but even so, she seems kind of out of breath after saying all that... she's not used to talking so much. ]

Sweet child, you must have remembered something quite special. I'm not sure I've ever heard you say so much in one go before. And your smile's brightness rivals that of the sun. [It warms his heart in spite of his confounding memories.]

I will never discourage you from reading, but Chiron, was it? Hm... [He mumbles the name to himself a few times under his breath. No, it isn't familiar, but he's wrapping his tongue around it.] I suppose if Medic is in no great hurry for a new name, and if you think it appropriate, I would not mind it.

Oh — it wasn't that special... But it seems like, maybe I'm getting feelings back as well as memories... Like I'm still waking up.

[ which raises the question of why she's the only one who lost them in the first place, but she doesn't want to think about it. there won't be any answers. she shakes her head and refocuses: ]

Um, Chiron is from Greek mythology. It's well-known where I come from, but I wish I could find something more familiar to you... I think it suits you, though. You're wise and gentle, and you look out for us... so that was the best one I could come up with.

I can't claim to have heard of Greek or any mythos from that source. Don't worry yourself over what I'm familiar with. I scarcely know much myself! I am aware there are gods, of some sort, and a land with a form of monarchy. Details are...sparse.

It's good enough for me that you think it appropriate. Thank you...for putting in any effort at all.

Of course, Y— oh, Chiron!

[ she really is just happy to have been of help. with that settled, and Chiron looking much less downcast than he did a moment ago, she glances back at the mansion. ]

It's probably the girl on all the buildings who lives here, isn't it...? Do you think she's "awake" like us?

One would have to imagine this is hers. As to her awareness, her wakefulness...hm. If so, would she not be like Rei? Have powers and use them?

Mm... But we didn't know anything like that when we woke up. It was only Rei. If she's awake, but she's not an Executor...

[ she lacks the emotional capacity to imagine exactly what that would be like, as well as the eloquence to express it, but — to be the only conscious person here. to spend day after day in this place, not knowing why, not knowing who you are. if Mona had been in that position... she probably would have stayed an empty doll forever. ]

... That seems like it would be lonely.

But she figured it out. All on her own. I still wonder...

[What made her so special? Would they each have figured it on their own at some point?]

I can't imagine her not making a physical appearance somewhere at some point. Perhaps we'll have a chance to meet her and find out for ourselves.
