It's time.

Esme has been doing her level best to make sure everyone in Invidia knows about their little competition, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see that the mall is absolutely overflowing with devoted fans today, all eager to see the outcome of this "friendly" competition between performers. Thankfully, Esme has been unusually sportsmanlike and deigned to release a schedule of the event beforehand, so you're not just going in blind. Esme and Idol-ON will perform two songs each and then hold a question and answer session with the audience, after which a vote will be held – and whoever has the most votes by the end of the show will be declared Invidia's newest top idols.

Sounds simple, right? Right.

You've all been given a private room out of the way of the crowds, with some time to spare before the event itself starts. Time for some last minute rehearsal, some last minute panicking, some last minute... sabotage? Well, Esme's probably not going to play fair, so why should you?

Unfortunately no. Unlike Orpheus the harp is the only instrument I can play and it seems to not feature much in this genre of music.

It should all be fine though, they seem capable enough.

... oh. Okay then. If you say they're fine, I'm sure they must be.

[ She looks... k–kind of disappointed, though?! ]

They'll be playing for Esme as well, and as much as I'm sure she's got some plans up her sleeve, I doubt she'd skimp on the music.

[ a pause ]

...Are you going to be fine though?

[phantasmagorial]

[ said just a little too fast: ] Yes, I will! We've been doing all this practicing and we'll all be on stage together and... um...

[ She deflates just a bit. ]

It... just made me feel a little better thinking you'd be on stage with us.

[twibeast]

[ Oh... oh no.

He eyes her for a moment before beckoning her closer. ]

Come here a moment, darling.

[ She does as he says and steps in a little closer, even if she looks terribly embarrassed as she does so. She keeps insisting she's so gung ho about this idol thing but she's really not good at keeping a lid on her actual feelings, is she? ]

[twibeast]

[ When she gets closer he kneels down on one knee to put himself at her level, then fans his wings out and surveys them closely...

Before pulling out one of the prettier, more pristine feathers he can find and holding it out to her. ]

Here-- with this I will be on stage with you.

[ She half expects to be pulled into one of Beast's patented Dad Hugs, as is the usual at this point – to the surprise on her face when he starts expecting his own wings is obvious. It isn't until he presents her with the feather he'd plucked that she actually gets what he's saying and her eyes go very big and very glossy. ]

... R... right...!

[ She takes the feather from him and nods earnestly as she holds it close to her chest. ]

It'll be like... a good luck charm. If I have something like this, I know I'll be fine.
