cancry | Training Log 3: Revelations

As we have more newcomers again, I will be holding another training session. It will be the same place as before- the part in Limbo. There will be refreshments as well, so even if you do not wish to spar please feel free to come and observe!

[It's that time again! Lion has his little (now a bit beat up since he keeps using the same space) claimed track of land in Limbo set up- wide spaces for people to pair off, a fold-out table with snacks and chairs for sitting and chatting. And of course himself off to the side with his lance in hand- willing to take all challengers and give tips and advice to anyone that comes to him!

He does though, go seeking someone specific out during all this: Chiron]

My friend, may I speak with you in private for a moment?

[There is no feeling of dread here that's just your imagination!]

((ooc: As usual this is a mixer post, so feel free to toss up starters as desired! I will have one for Lion as well if anyone wants to poke him in specific- but use this as a chance to show off- I mean try out new powers you've gained since last time!))

[It's fine this is fine everything's fine they don't have to talk about anything or acknowledge anything that's happened! They can train and...wow, Ruin. You are eating some hard shit. It happens a few times, in Chiron's peripheral vision, before the healer finally sighs and closes...some of the distance.]

Do you need a hand?

[Ah. The absolute last place he wants to be. Below Chiron again.

There's a moment of panic that he tries to hide, no matter how much he knows it's irrational. Still he makes a point of dragging himself back to his feet before he finally acknowledges the other man.]

Just gotta get the timing right. [A noncommittal shrug. It's not really the sort of thing anyone can help him with and it's not as though he has any qualms about beating the shit out of himself.]

More wondering if you're hurting yourself with the tumbles you're taking.

[He flashes Chiron a smile, a little more strained than usual but only by a bit.]

Trust me, I've had worse.

You certainly have. [It's said with a slight touch of sadness in his voice.]

[Oh... well that's not awkward... at all... uuuuhh]

Hey, it's no big deal. [A shrug, trying so hard to act like this is all just fine.] Were you... were you uh... wanting to spar or something maybe?

Only if that would put me in your good graces. I've a feeling it wouldn't go over very well.

Good graces?

[A laugh this time and it's far more convincing, as though he's realized he needs to step up his game. Ruin just shakes his head.]

You don't need to do anything for that. The hell you care what I think, anyway?

[It seems perhaps all right in the end, until he asks that question, and that - hurts, actually. He can't rightly say it's unfair, but it does hurt.]

Ah... [Should he be direct? Ruin tends to go about everything in an arc rather than confront head on, but perhaps it's necessary?]

Of course I care what you think. I care that when you look at me, you see someone else. I care that, in a moment when I could scarcely recall who I was, much less where and how and why, I too mistook you for someone else.

I care that I haven't had much opportunity if at all to apologize.

[Oh... uh... wow okay so they're just.... talking about this now.

So much for laughing it all off and pretending it never happened. Thanks Chiron.]

Hey, no... I mean, it's fine? You didn't do anything wrong. I was just... being an idiot and moping around. It's not a big deal, Chiron.

[He shouldn't care about Ruin's opinion because no one should care about Ruin's opinion. It's Ruin, he just... fucks everything up. Which is what he did then too! It's all fine. Just a misunderstanding.]

I'm sorry if... if I upset you. I didn't even think to ask- Are you doing okay?

No, no, not at all. I was the upsetting one. You were somewhere quite low and not altogether present, and I was...teetering on some kind of brink between myself and someth...someone that I used to be, in life, I fear. I did not treat you well when you needed help. That is my fault.

If we were both all messed up on memory bullshit then why do you get to apologize and I don't?

I most certainly did, though it could perhaps be argued that it was not...me that did it.

[He shakes his head, spreading his hands.] You are allowed to be upset with me.

Yeah... but I'm not?

[Maybe a little more cautious. Certainly not scared, Goddess, no. But... wary. Which is fine that's just par for the course, right?]

...I scarcely understand yours or Phoenix's position on the matter. But, I would prefer not to be feared or hated, naturally, so I suppose I've no choice but to accept it.

[Chiron... he never even hated Miklan. You're safe, buddy.]

Why would Phoenix be upset with you?

[Lookit how much easier it is to deal with other people's trauma.]

[Maybe he shouldn't have said that. He waves a hand to drop the matter.] Reasons we both remember, but he refuses to make any kind of deal of the man I was while I was alive.

I think he's more upset that I think he ought to be upset. Like you.

[Ruin is quiet for a long moment, glancing away, recalling the night he and Lion had beaten the shit out of each other.]

Maybe... maybe that's because you're the one upset with you.

[How many times had he argued with them that it was his fault and they should be mad at him?]

[There are a number of brief flickers of emotion that play across Chiron's face, none good, before he places said face in both hands and breathes for a moment. Then brings them back up, running fingers through his wild hair.]

I have to imagine I had reason to do the things I recall doing. No one does anything for no reason. But I cannot for the life or death of me so far figure out what that reason yet is.

Maybe that's for the best? I... don't think anyone really likes most of what they remember.

[He just shrugs a little. It's fine. Nothing traumatic here, just unpleasant.]

If you understood your logic, the reasoning behind whatever you did... then you probably wouldn't be so upset about doing it. Right?
