[ Beast waits until the next morning to say anything to the rest of the group, in part because it's a little late when they get home and he doesn't want to gather everyone on short notice and also because he needs some time to collect himself. First thing in the morning though he sends the message through discordia. ]

The Authority has been found.

She's one of the regulars at the Phantasma Fantastique that Sir Lion described. There is no doubt about it, she confirmed it once she realized what I was. I fortunately managed to record the conversation between us and I will upload it as soon as [ he figures out how ] I am able to.

I would like to propose a meeting at the mansion in Invidia this afternoon so we can pool together any other knowledge we have and start to formulate a plan. It should be easier to figure one out in person than over messages. If you know of any new Executors or ones who don't check their phone as often be sure to let them know.

[ He pauses a moment, thinking something over, before quickly adding: ]

On another note, I would like to make a personal request.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could all try calling me Achilles for the next little while.
Lately I have been thinking of picking a new name for myself and am quite fond of this one so I would like to hear how it sounds coming from everyone else before I make up my mind. Don't worry though, I will still respond to Beast if you call me that instead.

[ A few hours later, with some help from Rei, the audio file gets uploaded to the group chat. The irrelevant stuff with the "masked guest" and security has been cut so all it includes is his conversation with Greta from beginning to end, but he still provides a time stamp to when she reveals herself for anyone that wants to get to the point. The audio quality is shockingly well for being in his pocket the whole time, so both he and Greta can be heard clearly. (because that'll just make it easier for all of us) In case anyone misses it or needs a refresher, he plays it again at the meeting, right at the start.

Now, let's hash this out. ]

[When there is an Invidia meeting, there is of course a Phoenix with some delicious freshly made mushroom risotto. Fate forbid anyone should have to deal with this mess while hungry.]

I don't expect this will ever be simple, if every Authority is so unwilling to just step aside. A frustrating thought, but I wonder if the trend will actually continue.

Quite frustrating indeed. [ homf ] I fail to understand it, personally. I can't see the moving on process being immediate once the cogs are fixed, even if things are a little backed up. Letting us pass would still let her keep her Authority until her time comes, whenever that could be.

Me, Chiron, and now Achilles have all taken new names. No one ever thought that was strange.

And yes of course we are. The names we awoke with are just temporary in the first place, no? They need not stay with us if they no longer feel right. I was fine with mine at first but the more I remembered my living self the more I started to reassess that feeling.

[After the meeting had wound down somewhat, there was a light tap to Achilles' arm.]

...Do you have a moment? I'd like to speak with you about something unrelated, if you've the attention to spare. I'm aware we have larger problems at the moment.

Ah, of course I’ve got the attention to spare for you, Sir Phoenix. What is it?

Ah, so... while we were investigating the theater, Monarch and I found something interesting too.

We weren't sure if the thief was part of the show or not at first, so we decided to investigate and we managed to find the actress while she was preparing for the rest of the show. We managed to get her to talk to us a little and she said something a little strange.

She said she'd taken up working at the theater because someone had won a game against her at the casino and she was out of money. But the way she said it... was that "her luck had run out".

[ She lets that sink in for a moment before continuing. ]

I think she might be the "Lady Luck" Ruin told us about before. And if that's true, I think that means she was the previous Authority of this Layer. And Greta took it from her.

I doubt she’s pleased to have lost not only her riches but her power.

[Well going out the opposite direction means he'll come up on Ruin sooner or later, standing against an exterior wall of the mansion in the back yard, staring out over a large -ridiculous, really- pool and patio area.

He always seems to come back to the water, doesn't he? Maybe that just meant he really should have died in that well when he was a child... Maybe that would've been better for everyone.
