Luxuria Intro Log
With the real super power of teamwork, the Executors have successfully managed to make their way through the Gula Underside and defeat the previous Authority there. With Gerda now freed from her past regrets and given the power of an Executor, Gula and its inhabitants seem to be in safe hands... for now at least. More interesting – or concerning, perhaps – is the tentative ally you've gained in the form of Birdie, the mysterious girl who attacked some of your number in the Superbia Underside. While she seemed to be nothing but an enemy back then, a surprising connection has been formed with who you now understand to be the Authority of Purgatory itself. While she doesn't necessarily believe the Executors will be able to repair Purgatory, she is at least willing to admit that she shares their goals of wanting to see Purgatory restored... either to its former state, or to something new. But what does that mean for the Executors? And what does that mean for Rei supposedly born from the Authority's discarded heart? There are still many questions the Executors need to answer and as a blast of dry, hot air blows up from the next layer, you can only hope that Luxuria holds the key to at least some of them...
![]() ♪♫ Wet & Dry – Sakuzyo After the humidity and noise of the Gula Underside, passing down to the Lust Layer of Purgatory initially seems like a relief. The air here is dry and sharp and though you hear noise drifting up to meet you and see a whole rainbow of lights clustered together in the dark, it doesn't seem as though it'll be quite as overwhelming as some of the bustling Layers you've had the pleasure of exploring before. But as you set foot down into Luxuria and feel the heat of the ground under your feet, you begin to wonder if you might just have hopped out of the frying pan and into the fire...

[ He can’t be here. He needs to be alive again. He’d previously been so fine with being dead but now that Odile’s poor horrified face is etched in his mind whenever he closes his eyes and that horrid bird screech—
But they’re right. What could he even do? He’s dead. And he’d left his son behind. Alone.
The full gravity of the situation hits him again - there’s nothing he can do. He can only break down sobbing again, hands moving to cover his face. Sorry, he might be a wreck for a while longer. ]

[Gods, what could he even say to any of this? Phoenix knew too well that such things weren't so easily fixed--if they could be at all, and reckoning with such a conclusion was impossible in its own right.]
[His arms found their way around Achilles' shoulders, pulling him into a hug and stroking a gentle hand through his hair.]
You're alright. We're here.

cw: more abuse talk
And there is something fundamentally broken within him now. Not just because of Odile's currently uncertain fate, but because... he had been happy. He had thought he was finally free. Truly free this time to never have to worry about her again, the taste of her blood in his mouth just as vivid as his own now. He had thought he had spent the rest of his life healing, maybe never fully moved on from all the damage she'd done, but at least able to live without worrying about being hunted down by her again.
But he wasn't free. He never had been. Even from beyond the grave she had found a way back to him, and this time she'd taken the last thing he had kept from her: his life. And so these tears weren't just for his beloved child, left traumatized and alone, but for the man he'd been and the freedom he never had, tormented and hurt by her until the very last.
...He had told Phoenix before, mentioned her and some of the things she'd done to him though not by name. Made it clear the hold she had on his psyche even after death. And for a while he'd been meaning to tell Chiron, tell him the real reason he had left his original world, but it's hard to find the time to do so when you're avoiding thinking too much about it - when any thought of her makes you dissociate. But there was no more avoiding it now, or repressing the already long returned memories. She was his murderer. ]
...it was her. [ This time when he says it it's no longer full of disbelief, but poison and fear somehow all at once. His voice stays low, as he's suddenly hyper aware of Rei's presence and does not wish her to hear this. ] My sister.
[ He has to say it. Even if it won't mean anything to them he has to finally say her name or she'll truly never lose her power over him. ]
Chimera. Chimera killed me.

He doesn't mean to laugh, a not entirely there sound, and runs a hand through his messy hair.]
Family is truly the worst, it seems.

You're telling me.
[ At least it's. A reaction other than crying! ]

...I'm sorry. [There wasn't much else he could offer--Chiron would understand that far better than Phoenix could, and likely do better at offering comfort as a result. If all he could do was hold Achilles and keep him grounded, that was fine. He wasn't about to go anywhere anytime soon.]

We are hardly telling you to forget it happened. Impossible, of course. But we do want you to understand that there's nothing to be done at this point. Whatever happened...after, it's far beyond out of your control. But you're more than allowed to feel what you need to feel about that bitch and what she's done.

It’s a hard pill to swallow and there’s a part of him that wonders now if while doing all this he has wasted time. If there was a way back to life, if Chimera was able to do so… then what if he had been focusing on that since the beginning? Maybe he could have found a way back and helped Odile. But it’s so long now, Odile and all of Rhearth are probably—
…
He casts his eyes down, and moves to bury his face in Phoenix’s shoulder, careful of his horns even when he’s this distraught. ]
I’m the one who should be sorry…
[ Sorry for causing a scene. Sorry for leaving Odile and whatever he accidentally did to him. Sorry for ever even going to that world in the first place.
He feels his eyes moistening again. ]
Believing I could ever get away from her… what a fool I was.
[ He slightly lifts his head back up ]
Is Rei…?
[ “all right?” but he finds the words difficult to get out right now ]

Is... are you...?
[ She hangs back, not quite certain of whether or not to approach. ]
Th–there was so much pneuma and I didn't know what to do...

The right thing. [Calling for help, getting others. She did the right thing, in that case, in spite of her freakout.]
