Invidia Arrival Log
![]() With the Executors now victorious over the first layer of Purgatory, the only way for them to go is further down. Thanks to the combined efforts of Kingslayer, Ariel and Mona, a path forward has been opened that leads down to the next layer of Purgatory. Rei looks ill at ease about this. If asked, she'll brush off the concern a bit, explaining that she's never gone this far down into Purgatory before and she doesn't know what lays ahead. It might be even more dangerous than the Underside. She's just glad they're all heading down together. So, once everyone's collected themselves... head down they to to the next layer of Purgatory... Welcome to Invidia. Congratulations on unlocking your first major location change in Can Cry! Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the city of Invidia. Investigation is strongly encouraged here as from here on out, plot progression will moved along by player involvement. If you want to unlock the next Underside, get investigating! All investigations that require mod oversight should be tagged with INVESTIGATION REQUEST in the subject line. Get out there and have fun! | |

DDR + arcade investigation
First thing's first: do they need money/some form of payment in order to work?
And once that's figured out, it's game time. He passes over most of the shooters and fighters
so like most of the arcade thenbut some of the others catch his fancy. And the luck or skill based games, lord, those are dangerous. He's going to try his hand at several crane games--what sort of prizes are there in them, anyway? He's subconsciously bopping along to a beat with whatever things he's managed to win/whatever gachas he's snagged along the way until he turns and there. There it is. DDR in all it's bright and musical glory.
It takes him several rounds of practice, but he gets the hang of the idea, at any rate, and finds it quite entertaining. And there's room for two players! Come play with him. Else he's going to take over both pads and cheat by doing a slight warp between them. Catch him trying to jam to Captain Jack, 1,2,3,4,007, or gods help him, attempting a PARANOiA number.]
Heck ye DDR time
[Some rapid chirpy chiptune comes on, and she immediately begins bouncing along with the boundless energy of the young and dead, sneakers squeaking on the plastic squares.]
Hey, I think there's a two-player mode... [Oh no. She's found the PvP options.]

Oh ho, care to test your skills against mine, hm? I warn you now, my feet are fleet and my legs long. [If she's been watching for a bit, well, he can at least keep rhythm well enough, but he's literally only just picked the game up.]

But I have the power of mad science and cute sneakers on my side! [She pumps her fists, looking adorably earnest and determined.] Let's do our best!

You're quite right, those sneakers are cute and thus formidable. [He gives a slight but dramatically polite bow.] I will let the lady choose first.

[The loading screen starts up, and she shifts back into place. Hopefully she hasn't just doomed them both...]

Goodness, that one's a touch too difficult, I think.
cw for ignoring personal injury
I wonder how people who can't just fix their ankles do it? [MEDIC.]

Most people can only move so fast because they have to worry about landing with too much force, right? [She gestures cheerily as she talks, illustrating her points with her hands.] Anyone can throw themselves at something as fast as they possibly can once, but your bones and tendons sure have some things to say about it if you try it a second time!
So if you keep healing yourself, you can keep going "as fast as you possibly can", and not have to slow down to "as fast as you can go without hurting yourself". You're starting fresh every time!
[...Wait, did she forget to mention she's cracked self-healing? Because she's figured out how to do that now. ...that's probably what she should have mentioned first.]

As an aside though – apart from the games themselves, is Ya Boy paying any attention to the arcade at large? ]

...That was you, was it not? Do you have a friend about somewhere, hm? Or shall we get higher? There is a roof to this place...

DDR AT LAST
[ She's just been stood back and watching this happen because what else even s there to SAY. ]

But I think it would be far more fun to do it with a partner. Can you keep a beat?

[ She eyes the entire... everything of the machine dubiously. ]
You just have to hit the arrows in time with the music, right?

[ There's just a hint of "sure, Jan" energy to her answer there, but she steps up onto the second gamepad anyway. ]
I guess the only way I'll learn is by giving it a try...
