Training Log 01: Shiny new powers

It's been a day- or something similar to it. After all, time seemed to be a weak thing here. But it's long enough that the pounding in his head from the attack under the Founation is... manageable. His ribs still ache, but he's not going to let that stop him- if Rei needed them to fight, then he would fight. Especially since he now remembered HOW to fight- a weak memory that came with a few other things. Like that fact that he might be royalty(?), but more useful was his skills with a weapon.

So he goes hunting for a big open area- and every other Executor he sees he mentions his intention: to train and test out these new powers. Eventually he finds what he's looking for: what probably was supposed to be a park, though it was slightly twisted like everything else here. But it was open enough that he probably wouldn't hit any non-combatants. A quick switch to his Executor uniform, massive black armor with a fur lined cloak, and he spins his bone spear like an expert.

How strange to have this knowledge but almost no context. Well, it is what it is. He wonders if any of the others will join him?

[He adjusts his grip near the base and lifts it high, twirls it about with a fair amount of ease (and with the blade so far up that there's little chance of harming anyone else).]

I haven't the faintest. [Said with no small hint of delight. This is all fantastical as far as he's concerned.]

Oh, now you're just showing off.

Only to hide the fact that I also haven't the faintest how to effectively use such a weapon. It seems terribly inefficient--surely I'll only succeed in harming the rest of you in the heat of battle. Were it a more reasonable size...

Well, if you don't know, that's what training is for. Do you know what else you can do?

[As easily as the weapon was summoned, it can so be easily un-summoned. A moment of thought and the tinkling of crystal, and the scythe vanishes into the air. His hands open soon after, as though afraid to let go in case it was still there.]

I seem to have a most useful bit of movement that should help in a pinch. I've also discovered I've a penchant for healing of some sort. What of yourself?

[Wolfsbane puts her hand forward and aims at a garbage can. A bright orange, ornate magic circle appears for a second behind her, and a palm-sized fireball appears that she shoots toward the trash. The pile of empty cups and broken twigs catches fire. Another magic circle appears briefly, and Wolfsbane shoots a similarly-sized shard of ice this time at the same spot.]

I take more easily to the fire, but the ice is simple enough.

Elemental magic! [It sparks something vaguely familiar, maybe? He isn't sure. But he's thrilled to see it nevertheless.] That's sure to come in handy to fight whatever monsters lie before us.

Yes, it does sound like you lot ran into some trouble earlier.

Nasty creature. Large eyes, odd knees, some potential weak points, but certainly stronger than any one of us as we would normally be, and our, ah, caretaker of sorts even seemed reluctant to do more than distract it.

Oh, that's disgusting. All the more reason to get a good deal stronger, then. I doubt anybody wants Rei babysitting us the entire way through.

Certainly not. She had enough on her plate as it was before the rest of us came back into wakefulness; it would be terribly unfair to foist leadership on her for any longer than it takes us to fully understand our abilities and how to use them in a fight.

[emberserker]

We clearly awoke for a reason. What do we know about our opponents so far? We ought to gather as much as we can before we go out again.

[schardynfreude]

I'm afraid you would have to ask Rei for more details. She has far more experience of them than the brief though exciting encounter a few of us had.

[emberserker]

No matter. It'll come up. Surely there are clues about the town, as well; it isn't as if any of this place is normal. And I'm not just talking about the snack flavours in the corner store... though I must draw the line at the potato chips. Moose? Really?

Quite so; though the unaware and uninitiated seem to think everything is fine, this whole city is...bizarre. Why is it so if the point is for people to work their way beyond it all?

[But then he stops, considers, really really looks like he's thinking, and then:] What, pray tell, is moose?

[emberserker]

For your second question, it's a large woodland animal, and for your first, I've got no idea other than that it might just make people so sick of it that we'll have to move on.

[He makes a face.] Potato chips that taste like meat? Now that is strange. [Like, no thank you.]

I might say I'd like to see this place and how it works normally, but we have to fix it all first.

[emberserker]

I expect nothing of this place, personally. I just want to fix it all so we aren't stuck here until we can't take it anymore.

Here's hoping these new forms of ours combat the awful vertigo and dizziness we experienced once we reached the ground, at any rate...

What, a curse on top of that?

[schardynfreude]

I suppose. It only came to be once we had reached the bottom of the stairs and departed upon ascending them again.

That'll take study. The last thing we need is for anyone to end up off their game.

We're all going to have to get real experience going back down there eventually. Hopefully with Rei along and a good number of us, we'll have plenty of time to study.
