Training Log 01: Shiny new powers

It's been a day- or something similar to it. After all, time seemed to be a weak thing here. But it's long enough that the pounding in his head from the attack under the Founation is... manageable. His ribs still ache, but he's not going to let that stop him- if Rei needed them to fight, then he would fight. Especially since he now remembered HOW to fight- a weak memory that came with a few other things. Like that fact that he might be royalty(?), but more useful was his skills with a weapon.

So he goes hunting for a big open area- and every other Executor he sees he mentions his intention: to train and test out these new powers. Eventually he finds what he's looking for: what probably was supposed to be a park, though it was slightly twisted like everything else here. But it was open enough that he probably wouldn't hit any non-combatants. A quick switch to his Executor uniform, massive black armor with a fur lined cloak, and he spins his bone spear like an expert.

How strange to have this knowledge but almost no context. Well, it is what it is. He wonders if any of the others will join him?

Ah? I admit it's a hopeful and optimistic outlook, but what makes you say that, exactly?

Rei seemed pretty damn concerned about us biting it—or worse—when we were fighting that Revenant down there.

I do imagine we'd be in plenty of pain, at the very least. We still feel, even in this afterlife. I wonder, then, if it's possible to destroy a soul. Or to render one...useless? Hm...

No clue here. Honestly, chances are I'm probably not even properly dead. Well, I am, but I'm not dead here. I've had to have been through this whole rigamarole once before, and it's not supposed to happen to me again.

You seem a fair bit more enlightened to the situation than the rest of us. How do you determine that you're not dead here, even if you are...dead? If not properly dead. Whatever that means.

Because I'm not real.

I'm a projection of a Heroic Spirit that made their name in human history; even if my body dies, my soul is safe in the Throne of Heroes and another projection will eventually get summoned again. There's no soul that can depart to the afterlife.

...Are you quite all right? [cuz that sounds Complicated and also potentially Rough buddy] That is, apart from being dead. Do you suspect you would be here among all these poor souls if you were not a soul yourself?

Like I said, I probably got summoned, dumbass. [They sigh, as if that was perfectly obvious.] My current bet is that some idiot tried to start a Holy Grail War in the afterlife to get a shot at being resurrected, and me and Rei are the result. No idea what's up with the rest of you.

...solid chance that Lion's Lancer, though. Maybe you're Caster?

Summoned to the afterlife. [Uh-huh. Sounds very reasonable.] By someone who's already dead and terribly asleep here, unaware that they even did so?

Hm. I very much doubt that, at least on my part, and yet I can neither do nor say anything to refute it as a theory.

If Rei and all of us woke up, s'possible that somebody else did before us.

And do you have anything better, old man?

Old? Excuse you. And just how old are you?

No clue.

But you're clearly an old man. I mean, just look at what you're wearing most of the time.

What I am wearing has no bearing on age.

If you're that frumpy, then you have to be over thirty years old or otherwise incredibly lame. That's the rule.

...actually, you might just be lame. I hadn't considered that.

And despite your insistence on being some undying or already long dead heroic spirit, I would guess you to be a teenager at best. But you hardly see me treating you as nothing more than a child, hm?

A child can still kill people. Old fogeys can't get out of their chairs without their backs cracking in half.

I can crack plenty of backs that aren't my own, no matter my age. Perhaps when we descend and actually come face to face with these beastly monsters, you'll see.

Or you'll run off ahead of everyone and try to singlehandedly take them all on, and instead you'll see me rushing to your aid. That one seems more likely at this point.
