Training Log 01: Shiny new powers

It's been a day- or something similar to it. After all, time seemed to be a weak thing here. But it's long enough that the pounding in his head from the attack under the Founation is... manageable. His ribs still ache, but he's not going to let that stop him- if Rei needed them to fight, then he would fight. Especially since he now remembered HOW to fight- a weak memory that came with a few other things. Like that fact that he might be royalty(?), but more useful was his skills with a weapon.

So he goes hunting for a big open area- and every other Executor he sees he mentions his intention: to train and test out these new powers. Eventually he finds what he's looking for: what probably was supposed to be a park, though it was slightly twisted like everything else here. But it was open enough that he probably wouldn't hit any non-combatants. A quick switch to his Executor uniform, massive black armor with a fur lined cloak, and he spins his bone spear like an expert.

How strange to have this knowledge but almost no context. Well, it is what it is. He wonders if any of the others will join him?

[ Seal isn't as adaptably ferocious as Kingslayer, and they're already tiring; they know, by battle instinct, that this is a fight they're likely to lose.

But it's never been about winning, really. Their body remembers that its greatest strength is stubborn endurance.

Rather than try to match the reactions of Kingslayer, who is far faster and more agile, they skid to a halt, planting their feet in the ground and pulling their nail up a scant second before the kick connects.

Their weapon and body shudders as they take the full force of the kick to their blade, and then their weapon whirls in a silver arc as they push back to return the blow in a trained parry.

Their nail falls from their hand almost immediately afterwards, dissipating as it hits the ground, and they practically slump into a kneeling position. Their Executor outfit flakes off them. They keep their hand up in an open-handed gesture of surrender; they're well and truly done now.

[Kingslayer lands and locks blades with Seal for a few scant seconds, glowering at them from behind the faceplate with... respect? Yeah, that's what it is. Respect for an opponent who well and truly kept up with them.

Then the Executor falls, and the overwhelming hurricane of lightning fades away as Kingslayer stands imperiously over Seal. Yet if the bug looks closer, they'll see their opponent's chest(plate) heaving with exertion and Kingslayer practically leaning on their massive blade as their abilities take a toll.

Then? Every inch of their body grins as Kingslayer offers a hand up to Seal.]

Now that is what I call a spar! [they whoop.]

[ They lock eyes with Kingslayer. For a moment, in that impassive darkness, there's the clear feeling of returning acknowledgement; this was a battle against an overwhelming, powerful foe.

(They know this battered, scarred body no longer performs the way their life's training seemed to demand. Exhaustion and pain are constant companions, like marbling in stone. But perhaps if they push themselves, they can regain a little of the strength their body feels like they must have had, once, little by little.)

They note the signs of exertion on Kingslayer's part, but even if they had a proper voice to say so, they wouldn't have mentioned anything. It's a warrior's pride, after all.

They stare at the hand like it's something foreign, trying to decide what to do with it. It's not a fistbump, they know that much. But declining it would be disrespectful, they think?

They awkwardly take Kingslayer's hand and let themselves be helped up, though they noticeably stagger to their feet despite that. Once they're on their feet again, they bow.

[There's a certain satisfaction in almost losing.

In giving it your all, bringing every inch of your skill to bear, and still just barely making it through a fight by the skin of your teeth.

If Seal had given up just a moment later, Kingslayer would've collapsed then and there. Granted, that was more due to their own arrogance and surety in their powers, but still.

It's the best they've felt in a long time.

Kingslayer bows back, nods, and... flops down on their back, panting.]

Damn, you really gave me a run for my money there!
