With Esme's iron-fisted reign brought to an end and the Executors given time to take a very well-earned break, it finally comes down to descend to the next layer of Purgatory. Thankfully, with this being the group as a whole's second descent, things are a little less nerve-wracking this time around... maybe. Hopefully. ... Probably. Welcome to Avaritia. Tell me. Were someone to lose their Executor abilities, but still be an Eidolon. Aware, but unable to help us any longer, and say Rei couldn't return their abilities. Do you suppose, in that situation, we would still leave them behind? Because they were no longer useful?

just having the capacity for intelligent thought is pretty useful all by itself!
up until we got through to the underside, most of what we accomplished in invidia didn't involve using our powers much at all

besides, we're friends

it's pretty hard to say whether a person is "useful" or not, i think

i can tell you the weight and measure of every part of the human body
the mass, the volume, the price someone could buy or sell it for
it isn't even very hard to remember

but i can't even start to guess at what a person might do or make or be, and how much that might be worth to someone!
people are complicated
and amazing

i wish more of them would agree to donate their bodies to science, though :(

[That said, the nice thing about talking to Medic is that she's already accepted Wolfsbane's request at face value. If someone says the conversation is moving on, it's moving on. Who is she to argue?]

They talked of mages, and they mentioned a tournament like my own GRANBELM. Not for the right to have all of the magic that was sealed away, like mine; just for a magical artifact. But the result was the same. The winner could really have whatever they wanted.

As in now? Because I'm sure I must have wanted revenge on Ernesta for whatever it was she did to me, but I don't know if that was what I wanted to be the Princeps Mage for specifically. It could have been just for my family's pride, or to be the strongest.

i think i'd want absolute power over life and death

I'm fine! It's only a memory and a question. It would do us all well to be on the same page, that's all.

Well... I can 'put us on the same page'. While not being able to fight would certainly mean we would have to take more care, there would be no reason to throw someone out. We're not short on resources, and with how the layers are designed they could be kept safe. Our goal is for everyone to return to the Cogs, not only Executors.
