It's Vegas, baby! Oh wait, I already made that joke on the location page... With Esme's iron-fisted reign brought to an end and the Executors given time to take a very well-earned break, it finally comes down to descend to the next layer of Purgatory. Thankfully, with this being the group as a whole's second descent, things are a little less nerve-wracking this time around... maybe. Hopefully. ... Probably. Welcome to Avaritia. Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the Greed Layer of Purgatory. I... should be all right for a little while down here at least. Enough to do a look around once I get my bearings.

[ Immediately: ] I can stay with you until you're sure you can handle it. It's a little loud and the colours are so bright, but... I can definitely handle it.

[ Let! Her! Fuss! ]

[ He sighs with resignation and tries to smile. ]

...All right then. Thank you very much, Rei. But please do not let me hold you up for too long.

[phantasmagorial]

We've got all the time in the world! After all, it's not like we can proceed if you're not feeling well.

[ she's going NOWHERE, bird dad. ]

Um... would it help if we just talked while you got used to it? It doesn't have to be about anything in particular, but it might do some good.

[ As she speaks he gives his eyes another rub, resting his fingers on the bridge of his nose afterwards. ]

It might. But I apologize if I seem a little out of it, my dear.

[ Rei lifts her hand and hovers it uncertainly for a moment, before she scoots in a little closer and sets it on his arm. There's... not really much else she can do, but seeing him so floaty and, well, out of it, has her worried. ]

It's fine... it's a lot to adjust to.

[ Avaritia and, you know, the heartbeat thing both. ]

I'm just glad we're all safely through the Underside now.

[twibeast]

Yes... me as well.

[ He pauses for a moment. ]

...I must have given you a dreadful worry back there. I apologize; you wouldn't have had to see me like that were I better at this sort of thing...

[ And not like. So useless in a fight! ]

[ She shakes her head emphatically. ]

Don't apologize for getting hurt...! I know not everyone's used to fighting yet, and especially not fighting Revenants. All that matters to me is that you're okay now.

[ But if he didn't get hurt next Layer, she wouldn't complain. With all the stress, it's a good job her hair's already white, huh. ]

[ He sighs. ]

Still... it's shameful how quickly I went down. I probably would have been fine if I did not have these wings.

[ But did he always have them? He really has to wonder about that now. ]

It made me feel rather... useless.

[phantasmagorial]

[ That's kind of a surprise to hear. Rei blinks at him, her brow furrowing uncertainly. She'd thought that fighting at all might have been the problem for him – surely not all the Executors could have come from backgrounds that would have prepared them for it – but by the way he speaks, it's just the wings causing him problems. ]

I guess it would make things harder to move around... and they're bigger targets, too...

[ Which... isn't great. But it's not something Rei can come up with a solution for right now. Which makes her feel kind of useless. ]

It's a shame there's nobody else with a similar problem... it'd help if you could talk to them.

[ He sighs and smiles wryly. ]

The price of being a bit “special” I suppose.

[ He looks back at them. ]

You’d think though that someone born like this would know how to move with them though...

I guess it is a little strange.

[ Not any stranger than the HEARTBEAT THING!!! but she's trying very, very hard not to dwell on that too much. ]

Maybe it's just the fighting that's throwing you off? If you weren't used to it in life, then...

[ But then she trails off and sighs. Even she knows that sounds like a stretch. ]

[ Was he not used to fighting? He's not even sure now. He was some kind of protector, but he seemed to use mostly barriers and...

He tilts his head. ]

...Perhaps. Or maybe my old age.

[ Well at least he's making jokes now. ]

[ She giggles a little. ]

The years must be catching up to you. Next thing you know, we'll be oiling your joints every morning so you don't creak too loud while we're investigating and give us away.

[twibeast]

[ There's something about that comment that gives him a momentary pause but he's over it pretty fast, smirking a little. ]

Now, now. It's not nice to go making fun of your elders like that.

[ With an obvious struggle, Rei keeps her face straight. ]

I'm not making fun of you. I really am worried about your health.

[ A beat. ]

And your creaky joints.

[ At that he just reaches over and ruffles her hair. But not that gentle kind of quick ruffle. No it's that much longer, more forceful ruffle meant to mess up your hair until you cry uncle. Like a softer noogie. ]

Well excuse me then for making you worry about me and my "creaky joints".

[ It startles a laugh out of Rei and she bats pretty ineffectually at his hand to push it away. Not the hair!! ]

D–don't take it personally! I worry about everyone! Y–your creaky joints are just the part I worry about most!
