With the dragon of greed thoroughly slain, the Executors are at last free to escape the sensory hell of the Avaritia Underside and descend to the next Layer. There's still sound and chatter, of course, but compared to where you've been spending all your time until now. Welcome to Superbia. And make yourself comfortable... because now that you've arrived, the stairs that guided you down here have disappeared and you won't be leaving any time soon. Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the Pride Layer of Purgatory. Is she keeping an eye out for anything in particular or just vibing?

Her intent is mostly just vibing, maybe looking at a cool bird or eating a random plant, but she has a surprisingly good eye for spotting anything that looks unnatural. maybe there's a treasure chest or a random door or some ancient ruins

Unless she's committing to doing a full on deep dive of the forest, she's not going to find much of interest! There's some litter scattered about that implies the students do come here pretty frequently regardless of any rules against it, but otherwise, it's just a cool forest.

GYMNASIUM

[So, Medic is not a jock, but she is insatiably curious. And there's nothing that gets attention faster than a door you aren't allowed to go through.]

[She's not a locksmith, but she does have sensor powers. Leaning casually against the wall right outside the gym and extending her range as far into the gym as she can, is there anything she might pick up on?]

Medic's sensor powers do not pick up on any living (well 'living') beings of any kind inside the gymnasium. In fact, she doesn't really get much of anything at all, really. Just seems like an empty gymnasium.

[So it probably says something about Medic as a person that "just talking to people" was a distant second thought after "use your mystical powers", but if she casually asks any of the other student specters about the gym, what happens?]

[There's nothing too suspicious about a new transfer student being curious, right?]

Nobody really seems to know what's up! As far as the students are concerned, the gym was fine one day and then locked up the next. There isn't a consensus as to exactly what happened and she'll hear all kinds of rumors ranging from 'construction work' to 'government conspiracy' but nothing that seems to be anything more credible than just regular gossip.

FACULTY OFFICE

mona is mostly looking to case the area and maybe snoop around desks, but if there's anyone in here she'll chat them up too

Infiltration successful! As a faculty member, Mona is free to come and go as she pleases, though if she spends too much time there, she might find herself gently herded back to the nurse's office to make sure there's somebody there to attend to any students who turn up.

Are there any deets in particular she's on the lookout for? Or is she just looking to get a general idea of the Vibe from the teachers and staff members?

club rooms

Wolfsbane isn't having a very good day. Time to ditch class and slip into the club building to search the club rooms while everyone else is in school.

There's a lot of stuff to explore and investigate in the club building! Is there anything in particular she's looking for in here or is she just casing the joint for anything that looks suspicious or unusual?

Looking for anything that looks a) magical or b) like important paperwork! Just in case.

There's nothing that looks particularly magical (except the occult club, which is not relevant to the Executors in any way but concerning for very different reasons) and all the paperwork she can find just seems to be related to the running of the clubs and doesn't stand out in any real way.

The only room she doesn't manage to check is the student council room which is currently locked.

Monarch is going to join the soccer team and wallflower it up, hoping to hear if there are any Specters of note the Kids These Days are talking about! Any teachers of infamy? Any Popular Kids to take note of?

...He's also very good at soccer, nearly enough to compensate for his age, so hopefully that will not be a problem among said Popular Kids.

Perhaps surprisingly, the kids are all pretty jazzed about Monarch joining the team! New kids are always exciting and having a new kid on the team who's good at football? Everyone's pretty pleased about it.

As for rumors of note, there's the usual gossip about popular kids around school, but none of it seems super relevant to the Executors. There is some talk about the student council arranging some sort of event that will be taking place at the end of the week and some grumbling about the principal who everyone seems to uniformly dislike.

What's everyone's beef with the principal?

(Monarch does not put it this way when he inquires. Monarch uses a lot more pauses and a lot less slang.)

A lot of it is your typical "fuck authority figures, all my homies HATE authority figures" grousing you can expect from high schoolers but amidst all the grumbling, there's one or two salient points – the first is that she's apparently extremely strict and comes down on people like a ton of bricks for even the tiniest of infractions. The second is that she's known to be the no fun police and is extremely limiting of the kind of events they can put on at school – which really sucks given they, you know, live there!

The student council seems to have managed to convince her to at least let them have a summer festival this year, but word on the street is that getting permission for it was an uphill battle.

Storage Rooms

So by this point, Varian's been given the rundown on the whole Executor business, probably has his cool weapon and everything (once I decide on it for sure but lbr it's probably a gun), but that doesn't mean he isn't still b o r e d with the too-easy curriculum he's undertaking at this school. So! It's time to see if he can snoop into areas that students probably aren't really supposed to be looking into unsupervised.

But Varian is smart. He's not just going to go waltzing into the storage rooms. He might inform a teacher they're out of x or y supply and ask if he can go fetch it because he's a good boy who does good boy things, and if he's potentially caught he'd give the same kind of excuse. So, he'll see how far that happens to get him.

Anything unusual to note in here? Or has all of this subterfuge been a waste of his time?

I'd love to tell you he did all this for nothing but he does find some things that are potentially?? Interesting??

At the very back of the store room, he'll find a bunch of junk from school events that's been haphazardly stored back here. Stalls, bunting, advertisement balloons, that sort of thing. Typical school event stuff. Some of it seems pretty busted up, though it's unclear if that's just general wear and tear or how they'd been stored.

It's hard to identify exactly what events they were for, but they seem to be from events that usually take place later in the school year.

I can't believe I wholeass had to look up what bunting was-

But huh! Weird! Amber has no real frame of reference for any of this stuff, or what it could have been used for...but man it really looks like it's been banged around. He wants to assume it's from wear and tear because you'd really have to just throw everything as hard as you can in here for it to sustain damage like that from bad storage practices. He thinks.

He's of course going to dig through this stuff a little, pushing it aside and working his way through each section to see if there's anything more than this stuff here.

Library

I'm going to have to make you give us a summary of the school's history since chiron is going to go poking around looking for Information. I'm so sorry. Does it read as...normal? Or is it fucked up because it's spurgatory (school purgatory)? Are there any Important Names that come up?

There's not a whole lot of information about the school itself in the library just because it's not a subject any of the students are particularly interested in. He does find some things, though!

There's a slim volume near the front desk that gives a brief overview of the school's history. There's nothing particularly revelatory in it, aside from maybe its normalcy – you'd expect SOME Purgatory Weirdness but it seems pretty on the level.

The only piece of info that's currently relevant is that the book mentions the school's graduation ceremony always taking place in the gymnasium - the same one that's currently locked up tight.

Well. Speaking of graduation. Are there anyyy yearbooks? Are there faces in one that are still here maybe?
