Training Log 01: Shiny new powers

It's been a day- or something similar to it. After all, time seemed to be a weak thing here. But it's long enough that the pounding in his head from the attack under the Founation is... manageable. His ribs still ache, but he's not going to let that stop him- if Rei needed them to fight, then he would fight. Especially since he now remembered HOW to fight- a weak memory that came with a few other things. Like that fact that he might be royalty(?), but more useful was his skills with a weapon.

So he goes hunting for a big open area- and every other Executor he sees he mentions his intention: to train and test out these new powers. Eventually he finds what he's looking for: what probably was supposed to be a park, though it was slightly twisted like everything else here. But it was open enough that he probably wouldn't hit any non-combatants. A quick switch to his Executor uniform, massive black armor with a fur lined cloak, and he spins his bone spear like an expert.

How strange to have this knowledge but almost no context. Well, it is what it is. He wonders if any of the others will join him?

It's my weapon, dumbass. Something I'm remembered wielding; it's a part of my legend or whatever. [They sigh, rubbing their faceplate.] It's supposed to be really powerful, but that's only if I can remember its damn name!

By God, this entire situation is just too weird. What kind of idiot summons a Servant into the afterlife, anyways?!

It's kinda ironic, honestly. [Huh, Kingslayer knows what that word means? That's surprising.] I'm a Heroic Spirit, a legend who carved their name into history with fire and blood and was so renowned that I'm remembered by enough of humanity to make my way to the Throne of Heroes, but here I am and I can't even recall my own name!

I swear, when I find whoever organized this farce, I'm throttling them Grail or no Grail.

That's...quite the story. [He sounds genuinely impressed, for whatever it's worth.] Alas, memory seems to be a fickle thing here. Perhaps with time, we'll recall ourselves as we were, name and all.

Hopefully I lived a long and fruitful life with a loving queen and died of old age, beloved by the people.

But at least I don't have to worry overmuch about dying here.

Rei seemed pretty damn concerned about us biting it—or worse—when we were fighting that Revenant down there.

I do imagine we'd be in plenty of pain, at the very least. We still feel, even in this afterlife. I wonder, then, if it's possible to destroy a soul. Or to render one...useless? Hm...

No clue here. Honestly, chances are I'm probably not even properly dead. Well, I am, but I'm not dead here. I've had to have been through this whole rigamarole once before, and it's not supposed to happen to me again.

You seem a fair bit more enlightened to the situation than the rest of us. How do you determine that you're not dead here, even if you are...dead? If not properly dead. Whatever that means.

Because I'm not real.

I'm a projection of a Heroic Spirit that made their name in human history; even if my body dies, my soul is safe in the Throne of Heroes and another projection will eventually get summoned again. There's no soul that can depart to the afterlife.

...Are you quite all right? [cuz that sounds Complicated and also potentially Rough buddy] That is, apart from being dead. Do you suspect you would be here among all these poor souls if you were not a soul yourself?

Like I said, I probably got summoned, dumbass. [They sigh, as if that was perfectly obvious.] My current bet is that some idiot tried to start a Holy Grail War in the afterlife to get a shot at being resurrected, and me and Rei are the result. No idea what's up with the rest of you.

...solid chance that Lion's Lancer, though. Maybe you're Caster?

Summoned to the afterlife. [Uh-huh. Sounds very reasonable.] By someone who's already dead and terribly asleep here, unaware that they even did so?

Hm. I very much doubt that, at least on my part, and yet I can neither do nor say anything to refute it as a theory.
