Training Log 01: Shiny new powers

It's been a day- or something similar to it. After all, time seemed to be a weak thing here. But it's long enough that the pounding in his head from the attack under the Founation is... manageable. His ribs still ache, but he's not going to let that stop him- if Rei needed them to fight, then he would fight. Especially since he now remembered HOW to fight- a weak memory that came with a few other things. Like that fact that he might be royalty(?), but more useful was his skills with a weapon.

So he goes hunting for a big open area- and every other Executor he sees he mentions his intention: to train and test out these new powers. Eventually he finds what he's looking for: what probably was supposed to be a park, though it was slightly twisted like everything else here. But it was open enough that he probably wouldn't hit any non-combatants. A quick switch to his Executor uniform, massive black armor with a fur lined cloak, and he spins his bone spear like an expert.

How strange to have this knowledge but almost no context. Well, it is what it is. He wonders if any of the others will join him?

[ Seal, by contrast, doesn't move until Kingslayer moves, and then they raise their weapon and charge.

Sparks fly as they bring their weapon to bear against Kingslayer's own; their head drops a split second before the kick connects as they duck almost to the ground.

Their reflexes are certainly quick, but they still take up a great deal more space than Kingslayer does, by virtue of their height difference. To solve the problem of not being able to swing their nail and utilise its full arc, they lunge straight at their opponent instead - aiming to catch them full in the torso with their horns.

[By pure instinct (no capital I), Kingslayer thrusts their knee upward to intercept Seal's tackle by kneeing him right in the chest. While they're reacting to that, Kingslayer rears their head back and smashes it into Seal's without a moment of hesitation. After all, with the helmet they're pretty hardheaded themself, and they also have horns.]

[ There's pain, certainly, as Kingslayer hits that mass of scar tissue that makes up most of their chest now, clashes against them with a headbutt. But it feels like a scratch, somehow, compared to what their body still remembers, what's burned into them with scars both visible and invisible.

Seal doesn't break their momentum, using the upward motion of being kneed in the chest to bring their nail up in a sweeping arc, finally able to free it from its awkward position down by their side. They twist their head in an attempt to lock horns with them, supernatural chitin scraping against metal as they refuse to relent.

[Kingslayer grits their teeth as the nail scrapes across their armor. Despite the weapon missing their flesh(?), the force of the blow and the shock it sends across the armor hurt.

But it also gives them an opportunity. Kingslayer locks horns with Seal, then wraps their arms around their torso.]

Gotcha!

[And slams them into the ground with a suplex.]

[ The suplex is wholly new to them, and something they have no real defense against. It startles them enough that they use the power they'd only just become aware of on the moment of impact.

In a rush of sound and darkness, they vanish abruptly and reappear a little way away, now the right way up (even if they are lying on the ground, still a bit dazed).

It doesn't stop them for long, though. They push themselves to their feet, cloak swirling as they shake their head to clear it.

...AHAHAHAHA!

So that's what we're doing, huh?

FINE BY ME!

[Seal can feel Kingslayer's malicious grin as the red lightning that's been coursing across their armor in small bursts grows into a full-blown storm of energy as their opponent recovers. With a single, titanic motion, they take off, propelling themself forward using the storm in a head-on flying charge towards Seal at ludicrous speed.

Just as Seal is back on their feet again, Kingslayer plunges their sword towards the ground, using it as a pole to swing around to come behind their sparring partner without losing any of their momentum, land on their feet, and strike upwards with enough force to send Seal flying across the courtyard and landing flat on their ass on the nearest wall.]

This'll end it!

[ The fight, and the power being unleashed, makes their body remember old wounds like they're new again. Their reaction is too fast not to notice the maneuver - their head jerks to track Kingslayer's movement - but just too slow to avoid being launched; it's something that sparks an almost foreign feeling of frustration in them.

Perhaps they would have given up, accepted defeat, if it weren't for that sudden bite of frustration and pride. The feeling burns; for a moment it erases the ache of old scars and exertion.

They twist their body to hit the wall feet-first, using it as a springboard to launch themselves right back at Kingslayer. Their nail points forward as they lunge straight towards their foe in a sudden rush of speed.

[This fight awakens old instincts in Kingslayer too. The thrill of battle, the need to always, constantly, forever fight. It's literally in their DNA (on more levels than they think) to battle. Such is the nature of a Servant.

And, more importantly, too seek worthy opponents. Seal is that in spades.

So Kingslayer is at the top of their game when Seal charges them, a tornado of red lightning surrounding them as they rush forward to meet Seal head on with a reverse grip slash-

Only to turn that inward momentum into a spinning kick at the very last moment, right when they anticipate Seal would think they've overextended themself and teleport to a different angle to secure a decisive blow. Granted, Kingslayer isn't thinking about any of this on a conscious level, but the decision-making process is still present.

That kick still has the same titanic force as Kingslayer's last attack, if not moreso with the smell of victory is in the air.]

[ Seal isn't as adaptably ferocious as Kingslayer, and they're already tiring; they know, by battle instinct, that this is a fight they're likely to lose.

But it's never been about winning, really. Their body remembers that its greatest strength is stubborn endurance.

Rather than try to match the reactions of Kingslayer, who is far faster and more agile, they skid to a halt, planting their feet in the ground and pulling their nail up a scant second before the kick connects.

Their weapon and body shudders as they take the full force of the kick to their blade, and then their weapon whirls in a silver arc as they push back to return the blow in a trained parry.

Their nail falls from their hand almost immediately afterwards, dissipating as it hits the ground, and they practically slump into a kneeling position. Their Executor outfit flakes off them. They keep their hand up in an open-handed gesture of surrender; they're well and truly done now.

[Kingslayer lands and locks blades with Seal for a few scant seconds, glowering at them from behind the faceplate with... respect? Yeah, that's what it is. Respect for an opponent who well and truly kept up with them.

Then the Executor falls, and the overwhelming hurricane of lightning fades away as Kingslayer stands imperiously over Seal. Yet if the bug looks closer, they'll see their opponent's chest(plate) heaving with exertion and Kingslayer practically leaning on their massive blade as their abilities take a toll.

Then? Every inch of their body grins as Kingslayer offers a hand up to Seal.]

Now that is what I call a spar! [they whoop.]

[ They lock eyes with Kingslayer. For a moment, in that impassive darkness, there's the clear feeling of returning acknowledgement; this was a battle against an overwhelming, powerful foe.

(They know this battered, scarred body no longer performs the way their life's training seemed to demand. Exhaustion and pain are constant companions, like marbling in stone. But perhaps if they push themselves, they can regain a little of the strength their body feels like they must have had, once, little by little.)

They note the signs of exertion on Kingslayer's part, but even if they had a proper voice to say so, they wouldn't have mentioned anything. It's a warrior's pride, after all.

They stare at the hand like it's something foreign, trying to decide what to do with it. It's not a fistbump, they know that much. But declining it would be disrespectful, they think?

They awkwardly take Kingslayer's hand and let themselves be helped up, though they noticeably stagger to their feet despite that. Once they're on their feet again, they bow.

[There's a certain satisfaction in almost losing.

In giving it your all, bringing every inch of your skill to bear, and still just barely making it through a fight by the skin of your teeth.

If Seal had given up just a moment later, Kingslayer would've collapsed then and there. Granted, that was more due to their own arrogance and surety in their powers, but still.

It's the best they've felt in a long time.

Kingslayer bows back, nods, and... flops down on their back, panting.]

Damn, you really gave me a run for my money there!
