It's Vegas, baby! Oh wait, I already made that joke on the location page... With Esme's iron-fisted reign brought to an end and the Executors given time to take a very well-earned break, it finally comes down to descend to the next layer of Purgatory. Thankfully, with this being the group as a whole's second descent, things are a little less nerve-wracking this time around... maybe. Hopefully. ... Probably. Welcome to Avaritia. Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the Greed Layer of Purgatory. [ Beast already wasn't feeling great; his injury might be healed, but it kickstarted something in his brain, unlocked some hidden library of information that he was still trying to fully process. But the lights, the sounds, the rain... they certainly don't help. They barely get to the bottom of the stairs when he has to just... stop and sit for a while, one hand pressed against his eyes as he hangs his head.

Once he's got his bearings a bit better he tries to wander around and explore, but his mind is still elsewhere so it ends up more aimless wandering than anything. Occasionally he stops to examine his wings with the kind of apprehension one might have towards a sudden new limb, other times he stops just to shake the rain water off of them (and the rest of himself).

How are your wings, Beast? Don't tell me Medic has done some kind of mediocre job in her last batch of healing. Ah, or perhaps the rain is a bother to you?

[ He turns away from his wings to look at Chiron but he still has a... distracted look in his eyes. ]

No, she did a good job. They're... fine. Perfectly fine.

[He frowns lightly, and offers the umbrella. It's...weird, a little, to reach up like that, but hey.]

And yet I've the feeling they might not be so fine.

[ He appreciates the gesture and rain no longer falling on him, but the smile he manages to get out still seems a tad forced. ]

...I suppose nothing gets past you, friend. But no... they really are fine.

Nonsense. [He dismisses the very idea with an idle flick of his free hand.] Simply not true at all. Would you like to chat about it? Perhaps I can ease your mind.

[ Oh right, eating, that thing that people do. He has no urge to eat, so he just.....doesn't. But he can sympathise. ]

Cheat a few Spectres out of money and you should be able to pay for any meals you wish :)

[ He's found, through some experimentation, that these Spectres are all too eager to gamble away their coins if a challenge is presented to them. He finds riddle games particularly effective. ]

Cheat them? You mean through gambling? Is that not mostly luck based?

Not every type of gambling is based on luck! These Spectres love any kind of bet or game you challenge them to. Riddles, simple parlor tricks, all sorts of things. Possibly it's a compulsion of some sort.

If beating them fair and square suits you better then you may. But challenging them to games rigged in your favour and reaping the spoils is something they're very susceptible to.

Oh I see. I always presumed luck was the only way to win at those sorts of things so I was never very good at them. I had no idea trickery and wit were also valid.

[ She might be all but vibrating with the desire to go out and explore in the rain, but seeing him droop like that has her concerned. She takes a seat on the stairs next to him, not too close for fear of crowding him when he's out of sorts. ]

If... if you need to, you can go back up to Limbo and rest some more. I'm sure you need it after that fight– I know Medic did her best, but...

[ She trails off uncertainly, unsure of what she can do to help, but her worry is clear on her face. ]

You need not concern yourself with that, Rei. Despite... everything, I am fine.

[ You know despite. Maybe not having a fucking heart!! ]

I... should be all right for a little while down here at least. Enough to do a look around once I get my bearings.
