It's Vegas, baby! Oh wait, I already made that joke on the location page... With Esme's iron-fisted reign brought to an end and the Executors given time to take a very well-earned break, it finally comes down to descend to the next layer of Purgatory. Thankfully, with this being the group as a whole's second descent, things are a little less nerve-wracking this time around... maybe. Hopefully. ... Probably. Welcome to Avaritia. Feel free to use this arrival log to chronicle your initial misadventures in the Greed Layer of Purgatory. a few days after arrival

[Lion had spent a few days hiding out in Limbo, and he still doesn't like the idea of being down here. But once he hears how hard it is to function and investigate here without money, he decided to at least try and do his part.

He doesn't gamble, he doesn't have a poker face at all. So instead he finds work- bouncing at the theatre. He kicks anyone who tries to get in without paying out, even his fellows. but anyone that pays to come in or visits on his break are greeted fondly. Back in Limbo he even has a pay jar in the kitchen where he's dumping his funds so people can take what they need.

On days where he's not too overwhelmed with the theatre, he often heads to the apartments and if anyone follows him they might see him hauling down construction supplies from the other layers- it seems he's doing repairs in the falling apart building? Why...?]

[Ruin might take to snagging food from a local place and bringing it over when Lion usually gets his break. Just to get away from the nonstop clamor of being on the casino floor. And he can make back whatever he spends on their meal in 15-20 minutes so it's really nothing to him.

He might also be adding to Lion's little petty cash fund in the evenings, though he's stashing a pretty significant chunk of his winnings just to make sure they have the means to fund whatever shenanigans they get up to next. Until one day he shows up with a bag hanging off his arm, grinning like an idiot and balancing a couple of shawarma wraps on top of a box of finger foods.]

Lion! [Normally he'd wave but uuuuh.... oh they really over stuffed these pitas?? He might be scattering little bits of tabouleh as he walks.]

Ruin! Here, let me-

[He moves to help carry things. It's been... surprisingly nice, the regularity of Ruin's visits.]

[If he didn't take a break to take Lion lunch, and therefore eat himself, he'd be sitting at a black jack table for 10 hours. Sometimes he just needs to turn his mental calculator off for a little bit. Once Lion takes the pitas his balancing of the box is a lot less precarious and he flashes the blond a grin.]

C'mon. I think you're going to like this.

[There's a small covered pavilion area near the theater they've been using, something that's clearly meant to host live music or little pop up events but in the meanwhile it's an area to sit that is protected from the wet and just out of the way enough to be a little quieter, the more chaotic sounds drowned out by the steady drizzle on the tent top.]

[He does his best to protect the pitas with his arm as they walk, and once safe he peers at the box]

Have you been shopping?

[The box gets plopped on the table and opened up to reveal a stack of dolma, falafel, and small plastic dishes of garlic sauce and hummus as well as another smaller container that Ruin carefully sets aside with a smirk.]

Maybe a little. Dealer went on break like an hour ago but I figured you'd be stuck for a bit yet so I went poking around at some stuff.

[He plucks a pack of pita out of the bag first and slaps it down on the table.]

But food first or these are going to end up everywhere.

Oh yes, of course.

[He sits, eyeing the food]

I suppose saying 'I've never seen food like this before' would be redundant since I wouldn't remember if I had or not?

I hate this place.

[She grumbles, stalking up to the building with a fancy red umbrella, until she notices Lion carrying wood and tools.]

Who bothered to hire a builder at this -- wait, Lion?

[he nods, seemingly unconcerned by his massive amount of construction supplies]

Wait, you're doing renovations? So we won't have to commute if we don't want to live in a rotting shack? Admirable, if a bit of a waste of effort.

[He nods]

That would be the ideal- it's also calming for me to stay busy. It might be pointless in the long run, but seeing progress on a project is fulfilling in its own way.

At least you're getting something accomplished. I found another one of Rei's butterflies in the casino, but for the unlife of me, I cannot get it. The creature's unpleasable! Using force makes it flee, but it can't be lured, either!

Another one? If you would be willing to wait while I store my equipment I can go with you to try and find it again? Though I suspect we may need Lady Rei...

Lion, honestly, what is even the point of infiltrating their ranks if you aren't going to use it to our advantage?

[And that's tallman mchoboson whining at Lion around the theater. It is probably not the first time, probably because he didn't expect Lion to just toss him wholeass out the first time!]

I don't even know if there's anything worthwhile to point us in the right direction, but that's the point of going in.

Certainly, you've heard of 'plausible deniability?' If this place is important then it will be useful to have someone here who they trust.

It doesn't seem to much matter warping inside--the floor just seems to open up and suck me in with no little matter what I do.

I suppose I could always buy a ticket...but...it is quite expensive. Perhaps I just need to suck it up. [But he doesn't wanna...]

Even if I let you in the odds are good the floor would still take you. If you wish I could ask after a job for you too?

Apartments

[So all of the apartments have their share of problems- leaks, rusty pipes, broken windows- but, given the overall lack of animals in Purgatory so far, they probably haven't had much in the way of pest issues.]

[Which might make it a little alarming when, as Lion walks in to this latest apartment, there's a series of audible scuffling noises coming from inside one of the walls. A wall with a pretty large hole in it.]

[On the other hand, that sounds a little too big to be a rat...]

[He startles and almost summons his lance. But he resists and instead presses his ear to the wall and knocks]

[There's a brief pause, and then someone knocks back.]

[In pattern, no less.]

[That's probably not a rat, or if it is you have a much bigger rodent problem than normal.]

[He doesn't know the tune, so he can't do the last knocks of response. SO he just repeats it back???]

Hello? Who are- oh, Lion! [And the mystery is... if not solved, then at least explained a little by the sight of Medic, leaning over to peer out of the hole in the wall.]

It's good to see you, how are you doing? [...who do you call if your apartment is infested with scientists?]
